Hi,

I have a card with the signature of Yuri Gagarin. The problem is that I can't identify, if it's printed or not. At first glance I thought it was printed, but I didn't manage to find the same card with the same printed autograph on the web. Maybe it was printed onto the surface of the card. And I can see the little pressure in the end of the autograph. I've seen the same card several times without any autograph. So, if anyone has an opinion on it- please share.

Hello George,

If it's any help, I've recently returned from Russia where I visited the Moscow Space Museum. You can probably imagine that Yuri Gagarin is pretty 'up there' with the Russians! They have a book on display signed by Gagarin, which is more or less identical to this one. The ink colour and stroke style appears to be typical Gagarin who was a prolific signer throughout the Soviet Union and Worldwide. Without seeing it up close, it would be difficult to be 100%, but from here (and based on my own eyes in Moscow), I'm 90% positive that it's genuine.  Phil (UK)

Hi Phil. Thanks for your opinion. Yes Yuri Gagarin was a very good signer, but today he is one of the most popular among forgeries: If you take a look at currently listed on Ebay- nearly the half of them are forgeries. Also take a look at sold signed books on ebay (2 from Canada)- forgeries in my opinion, but pretty good ones.

I  have doubts about the autograph in the book I've posted above- it might be genuine, but I 'm trying to buy only those which I feel comfortable with. And moreover the seller hasn't responded to me at all when I asked about the background and ended the listing.

Hope you enjoyed Russia: we have a lot of interesting museums and Space related are among the best in the world.
