Mickey Mantle Signed Promotional Item?

Hey guy,

So a buddy from work came in the other day with this card to show me because I know I'm into collecting autographs. My knowledge on Mantle is next to zero, so I'd love to see some opinions on this.

If it is authentic, I would think it is a pretty cool and rare item. He says it was only used in card stores to promote the sale of signed 8x10's.
