Psa authenticated printed autograph! eBay seller sportsmania

eBay seller sportsmania is selling a printed muhammad Ali autograph as authentic.

It comes with a psa letter!
This is an ad for cologne Ali had out and it is pretty well known that the ads all had pre-printed autographs. Ali would inscribe around the printed auto (normally the persons name and date). If you go to aliautos.net and look under forgeries you'll see it documented there. Or if you google muhammad Ali cologne they should pop up

How did PSA miss this?!
Not only did they clearly get it wrong but the also note the date as saying "81"....the cologne wasn't released until 84 and if you look at it it actually says "87"

PSA really screwed up here

The seller sportsmania has been notified and doesn't care since it has psa authentication

This seller sportsmania is a joke. This is his response when I said psa had got the inscription wrong as well

"Gale Sayers just finished another signing. He inscribed 150 photos with ROY 65 , ROY means Rookie of The Year btw. What I don't understand is that this is 2015. Do you think he forgot the date? Magic Johnson just finished a signing of some jerseys and inscribed them HOF 2010 and Emmitt Smith just released some STEINER Helmets inscribed HOF 2010. It's amazing how all these items are signed today and back dated. What a scam. I think you should call the FBI about this."


Even though the Ali inscription says 87 he still says it is 81 lol

After sending eBay seller sportsmania information about this "autograph" being printed he said he doesn't care he "goes by the psa letter". I said that it was sad he didn't care. This was his reply

"I take your email claim seriously and after careful scrutiny under a 5000 times microscope shows the same marker was used and ink is on top of the paper with no signs whatsoever of a printed autograph. I have a letter of authenticity on THIS photo. I am not interested in other photos on the internet, only the ones I have. PSA/DNA has deemed it authentic for both autograph and inscriptions. How you read into them can be debated all day long. If I had no LOA from a reputable company I would take it down and have it checked but I have proof that it is authentic. To say I do not care is not something that is in me. I have never sold a fake item in my life and every item I have has been authenticated by reputable authentication companies. What happens outside of what I have listed is not of any concern to me. I can go about the ebay system and find identical items to many of the items I have listed that are duplicated and fake with no COA. If I plastered those on the net that does not mean that every item with that autograph and/or inscriptions are fake. My care and customer service is above and beyond. I have had no intentions of selling any of these items except for the fact that my health is failing and my children do not want to deal with my massive collection. Every item I have ever purchased was scrutinized to the highest level upon receipt over the years.. I have never purchased an item without proper authentication. So to say "I don't care" is a statement that is made to someone you do not even know. I have worked with ebay and shut down more fake items than most and have no problem getting to trust and safety at ebay as well as the V.P. of eBay. Sometimes you really never know who you are talking to. My Ali photo that I have in my hands is perfectly legit. I can only suggest that you take a look at the LOA posted in my listing. How do I explain the other "fakes" that you are referring to, don't really know. Thanks for your input anyway!

This guy is just out to make a buck and doesn't care if it's printed or not. The ink is even different just look! It's printed!!! Beware of eBay seller sportsmania

It could just be my eyes, but they don't look the same. It's also possible that PSA authenticated the inscriptions, which would be lame on so many levels, but possible. You may want to contact Steve Grad about it, if you're really concerned.

Those are both printed autos and are the same
Look at the thickness of the inscriptions compared to the actual "autograph"

Sorry for bumping this again lol but I just looked at sportsmania's description and he has edited it to say this
"THIS IS THE ORIGINAL TO THE REPRINTS FOUND EVERWHERE
BECAUSE ONLY ONE WAS AUTUGRAPHED"

This guy is really really blowing my mind here. How dishonest and all out scam

So he has gone and relisted the item for less than 59% of what he was originally asking
He has also taken out his ludicrous and statement that this is the original signed one and that all others were copied from it
I guess that's because the ads weren't inscribed....
This guy knows he has an item mistakenly passed he just wants to offload it to a sucker

The item was ended, maybe realsied he could not keep selling it. 2 issues here, why are PSA authenticating reprints and why does eBay let sellers sell reprints as the real deal.

I imagine PSA mass authenticated this as they seem to do and did not look at the item at all
