I am a novice collector of autographed memorabilia and I was hoping someone could give me their opinion on some autographed Big Red Machine member merchandise. One of these pieces is a Ken Griffey Sr autograph card and the other is a Pete Rose signed baseball bat. I would love to purchase these items, but am worried that they may by forged as I am inexperienced. Below is a link to both pieces. I found both of them on Sports Memorabilia.com and wasn't sure if they were trustworthy and it is just hard to tell if they are real or not since I have no experience. I also found the bat on Mounted Memories but again I know very little about this company as well. The bat worries me the most due to the price seeming too good. Any advice would be great as I really want to grow my collection. Thanks!

The Rose looks fine to me but price-wise, you might be able to find a better deal, as he signs a TON..

The Griffey Sr looks good also but if you have any doubts, he has certified auto's available from card manufacturers like Topps- he signed for them this year and are reasonably priced online. I'd go with one of those especially if it is serial numbered, like Topps Tier One is..

Also, if you ever decide to get a Dave Concepcion auto, be careful- before he did certified signings for Upper Deck in 2000, his auto on a card was tough to find, and forgeries abounded. If you add him, I'd stick with a certified autograph from Upper Deck or  Topps on the baseball card format....tons of encapsulated forgeries out there, be very, very careful..

both are authentic
