Plenty of horror stories.. there is no reason to do it.  Paypal takes less than 3%.. if you really want it that badly you can offer to pay the extra 3% to cover the fees, or negotiate the cost of the fees into the price.  IMO the seller should absorb that cost, but it doesn't always work out that way, especially with folks who aren't full time sellers.

I hear you Mike, some sellers don't want to take the hit with fee's.

Maybe we should use bitcoins.

Ive only done Paypal FF if I know the person and have dealt with them before many times otherwise I offer to pay the 3% fee or ask them to invoice me.

Most of the time being the buyer I'm taking the 3% hit, which isn't much unless the item is in the high dollar range. No fee's are much better.

Buying international, the postage sometimes is more expensive than the item I'm buying.

Plus the customs tax can really add the cost to the piece.

You have to take it all into consideration when buying.

Only use Paypal friends if you have ultimate trust in the seller,other than that you cant protect yourself. Best to use regular Paypal.

Agree with other comments, unless you have 100% trust in the other party stick to regular PayPal especially if shipping overseas

Many seller want friends and family not for the fees, but because of fraudulent charge backs by buyers. IE the buyer claims he never received the item, and gets a full refund+ keeps the item.

Still, I wouldn't do Friends & Family unless I trust the dealer/done business with before.

I've used PayPal friends a few times with no problems.It all depends on the vibe you get from your seller.So far I've been lucky I guess.Ive actually used it with a couple of fellow members here on AML.
