1 Quick Question

When I lightly rub my finger over the signature(s) of a signed guitar I can literally feel the ink almost as if it was painted on instead of signed w/ a Sharpie. Is this necessarily a good sign of a fake or is it just likely that it was signed w/ a type of pen that had a heavy ink flow? (It's not like the ink is super thick, 3D or anything just slightly raised and detectable where the ink is heavier.)

Some marker pens can do this on shiny surfaces, especially if the pen used wasn't that great.

Paint pens (the ones you have to shake to mix the paint and the thinner) usually have thicker texture than markers (such as Sharpies). They can also take up to several hours to dry thoroughly, and tend to "sit" on shiny surfaces as opposed to getting absorbed.

When viewed close up the paint should still have visible "streaks" to indicate the flow of the signature, which a print or a stamp wouldn't have.

Those ones you had to shake to have plates and such signed are old fashioned now. A lot of graphers are using Deco and prisma brand now.

Not necessarily a sign of a fake though? I was worried that someone painted them on w/ a brush instead of a real signature.
