As far as autograph collecting and music fan experiences goes, I find the range of stories I hear about various meet & greets to be pretty fascinating. I've heard of people paying modest fees (or nothing) for wonderful, fun experiences - and other stories of fans shelling out large amounts of money for a massive disappointment. And, of course, everything in between.
I thought we should have a comprehensive thread on the topic. Have you been to a pre-show or post-show meet and greet or know someone who has? Was it a bargain or a ripoff? What was the mood - structured and hurried or casual and fun?
My favorite band does meet and greets at every headline show they perform on this tour, chosen at fandom by fans who sign up for their fanclub and enter the show-specific drawing. There is no charge, and (usually) I don't believe a show ticket is even required. They were asked about this in an interview early this tour, and the response from one of the band members, Martin, was pretty passionate about musicians who charge high prices for meet & greets. FYI: I get that this band isn't quite a household name yet, so there might be a sentiment of "Who are they to say . . ." However they have an interesting perspective as both successful musicians with Top 10 records and huge music fans themselves).
Here's that portion of the interview:

Some of the M&G prices I'm seeing in the area are just bizarre. Sabrina Carpenter tix are $18, but the M&G is $175. Skyler Grey tix are $7.50 ea right now, but her M&G is $99. Weird.

Hi Barry
Cheers mate - he was a great guy and the evening was brilliant. He was truly touched the show was sold out and the interview was good and met some really nice folk.
I rarely venture by myself so it was all good for my confidence. When I went to meet Michael, I didn't know what to say so I just said my name and nice to meet you and he said "Nice to meet you, Robin." Its just that feeling when a legend says your name, just madness.
Hopefully he does another but I'm not sure. It was a great evening. If he does, you'll get to one of the shows he does, Barry. :)
Great picture Robin! He is a fantastic actor, so cool you got to meet him.
Got into the Bruce Springsteen Chicago book signing next week. I'll let you know how that goes.
Same as all previous events. You get like 10 seconds each for a handshake and photo opp with the Boss. They've got huge crowds on those events - usually like 1000 people each, and it takes approximately 2-2.5 hours for all of them to meet Bruce.
Holiday show in Green Bay this Friday. Definitely geared toward a younger audience, but there are some legit pop musicians there - Charli XCX, Bebe Rexha, Jay Sean and Jordan Fisher. $75 ticket (reserved up front) includes a meet and greet with all of them. I'm thinking that's a good deal.
