Andreas Wiemer replied to Scott S's discussion 'Would love opinions on this JFK signed letter - John Reznikoff please?'
Hi Scott, good example and in my opinion a secretary. I know another similar signature on a letter but with a postmarked envelope from "Boston", therefore I think JFK's secretary in Boston (maybe Grace Burke) signed this letter. And -…

It's obvious that the signature identified as an Arthur Sutton forgery is the exact same one shown by Hamilton in his "Robot" book at the conclusion of a typed letter. I agree with Andreas that this Kennedy signature is authentic.

Sorry that it took so long to post these pics.  I am currently in the process of moving.  Here is a picture that President Kennedy signed to my grandfather.  My grandfather was in charge of security at the Hyannisport Kennedy compound…

Hamilton is right with secretary IV, but maybe we have a problem with the early ones. Attached is a scan to compare  the "long K" signatures. I think the 1947/ 1948 could be authentic, they are not similar to the Hamilton secretary.

John F. Kennedy - early unpublished secretary examples by Mary Davis

Attached are two letters signed "Jack" by Kennedy's first secretary Mary Davis (1947-1952).Unfortunately nothing is written in Hamilton's book "The Robot ...". Hamilton is wrong with the information that the first secretary signs in 1952 for JFK.I am working on a JFK signature study. Copies of examples till 1952 are appreciated. Click image to enlarge:…See More

I do not have my reference with me but it is likely as you say, but I will qualify it a bit: The signature matches what hamilton atrributes to a 1952 secretary, and the postscript looks authentic. I know a very respected dealer who swears this…

Thanks Steve, with Hamilton's and Carr's book and the UACC landmark study we have all information 1952/1953-1963, but we don't have enough information for 1947-1952. Such "early" items are the rarest Kennedy items available.

Regarding authenticity my slogan is always: "Think inversely". Before you purchase an autograph you should think along the lines that it is not genuine, than do your research hoping to prove otherwise. Assemble your own reference library and purchase all the reference books available. Don't depend on what can be a worthless Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from a dealer. Educating yourself is the best way to build a fine collection.

Andreas - I assume you are talking about Koschal's book. Yes I have a copy of that, along with a signed copy of A.S.W. Rosenbach's "The Libraries of the Presidents of the United States". Are you aware of another reference book on the subject?
