The Pen Test

Posted on December 24, 2016 at 11:24am 17 Comments

Let me start by saying I am not a scientist. I have been collecting for decades, in that time I have purchased autographs, done TTM requests, traveled to conventions, and hit the streets in search of every possible signature that I wanted. I consider myself to be pretty successful at this hobby, and for years my answer to one question has been the same.

What's the best pen to use for an autograph? For 2 decades my answer has been a blue permanent overhead transparency marker called…

Star Wars Autographs by the Numbers: Which are the Rarest?

Posted on December 18, 2016 at 2:00pm 41 Comments

Autograph Common Sense

Let's take some time to talk about autographs, sounds silly right? In the last few weeks a number of new & old collectors have popped in here on this site and elsewhere with items they want to know about...Is this real? What's the value? and so on.

Many of us collect different things, some only collect sports, some mostly music, astronauts or presidents, whatever you collect this topic will fit into any category, for my purposes, seeing as I collect celebrity autographs, these…

Hello Pete!
Lol, it's all about the signatures. I don't like to gamble either. We would go for a dinner and show. The wolf den shows were free, I don't know if they still are. I saw so many shows at the wolf den. I have a 45 sleeve or 2 signed by some of the members of Asia. I would have to find them, but I am most likely missing the same band member as you. I didn't go to that show, my friend got some signed for me. I have met Steve Howe a few times with members of yes. It was a lot of fun.
Thanks again!

Hello Pete!
It's a pleasure to be your friend and thanks for your input. I have a lot of in-person signed items, but I also have a lot of items I purchased over the years going back to the mid 80's. It's awesome that I can unearth them and post on this site for opinions. I agree that the river Phoenix doesnt look right and I will add it to to oops pile. I noticed you live in ct, your my neighbor. I made many trips to Mohegan sun , wolf den to see concerts and get albums signed.
Thanks again

Hi Pete,

Would you mind taking a look at the Angelina Jolie and Billie Bob signed baseballs I found buried away when you get a chance? They look OK to me, but modern celebs have fooled me more than once. OK...just possibly a lot more than once. Thanks!
