Col. James P. Fleming USAF Medal of Honor Autograph

Here is another example of writing to a Medal of Honor Recipeint requesting an autograph and getting back more than I sent. A few years ago a used the Congressional Medal Of Honor Society 40 Patriots Point Road Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 address to mail out my request. In about a week I had back all I sent him ( a copy of his citation, and the 8x10 poster I created for him) along with extra copies of his citation, and an autographed photo of himself in Vietnam. It ALWAYS amazes me when I send two…See More

John Finn dies at 100; oldest surviving Medal of Honor recipient

In retirement, he worked as a gunsmith, ran a salvage yard and raised horses and cattle. He spoke often of the Navy as a good career choice for young men and women."His story will continue inspiring generations to come while also reminding us all about the contributions and sacrifices of America's greatest generation," said Rep. Duncan D. Hunter (R-Alpine), a longtime friend.Finn was particularly important to aviation ordnance specialists: sailors whose job, while significant to projecting air…See More

Have they ever done a TV series on MOH recipients? The could do two in a half hour, three in an hour, and inspire people for years. Hello History Channel! I agree with Josh, Steve...one heck of a tribute. Thanks.

Nice tribute posting this. He lived right here in my home town of San Diego (well, Chula Vista, which is 20 miles south). He was always kind with signatures, from what I understand.

Col John W. Ripley: Navy Cross Recipient, Historical autograph

With this 6th in my Valor series of blogs, I wanted to change it up abit. I use Col Ripley here for the great story of how an autograph request can led to something so much bigger. First, a little background as I know many here may not know what The Navy Cross is.The Navy Cross is the highest medal that can be awarded by the United States Department of the Navy and the second highest award given for valor, only the Medal of Honor ranks higher. It is normally awarded to only members of the…See More
