$15,950 in 1991 was a TON of money back then for rock. Inflation alone would make that almost $30,000.

Ballroom, you are amazing! And, Steve you could still be right. It might be a simple theft case rather than Government case. If you could prove they were stolen from your safe, would you be able to sue to get them back from maybe the 4th owner since theft?

I'm curious. How would one claim ownership? Back in these days government agencies used a lot of carbon copies and forms done in triplicate and such. If this were one of those and its possible since copiers were not as available in those days. Who would get to keep the original? In this instance my guess would be the court since it is a type of application to apply bond. I've read about these documents before to. Most I've seen have been passport, immigration and voter registration documents where the forms are maintained forever in archives. If this court had a destruction date of documents which many do after transferring to microfiche and that date has elapsed then the agency would have hard time claiming ownership of it. If the forms were not destroyed timely or appropriately and somebody got their hands on it I would think the government would have a difficult fight in trying to seize it.
Just my two cents but very interesting topic.

wonder what result of investigation was.... yeah, if the result was that the fbi will be after you if you are owner, that would be very pertinent for potential buyers to know!

Apparently it was in a large Doors collection from the time of the Sotheby's auction until 2011, when it was consigned to a music memorabilia store. I don't know who's owned it since then.

There is an amazing forgery of this document I believe I still have a copy of at the office. If so i will post it next week. You will amazed.

Thanks. Do you know if the legal status of the document was ever settled? It was reported to have been part of the file on Morrison's arrest that the Miami Clerk of the Courts in 1991 thought was stolen.
