Authenticity is Everything
Some words about "Proof Photos"
1) If the "proof photo" shows only the celebrity and a "blank" copy of the LP in question it is not proof. If you can't see a matching signature clearly, what have you? Nothing.
2) If the LP you bought has vintage damage not seen on the blank unsigned LP said celebrity is holding in their hands in the "proof photo" (unsigned), it is NOT proof. It is NOT the copy you bought. (Prove it is not a copy I own).
3) If said photos are altered beyond recognition, or are used to sell LP's that are NOT even shown with the celebrity, what are they worth?
4) Further, speaking of another "seller", if a seller can be shown to be factually lying on at least two counts, of great import, would this matter to you? If the graph you seek is unusual from this seller - would you buy? Knowing he has lied twice over? And is currently selling demonstrable factual forgeries - would this matter to you?
5) If a seller says "I got it myself or I bought it at auction" and then refuses to reveal the dates or auctions, would this matter to you? Especially when the seller normally, despite claiming otherwise, states his sources, but...just not to you alone (because "you would't buy it if you knew where I got it"). Would this mean anything to you?

PS - If the signature appears OK, but the seller swears that the "proof photo" is the exact copy being offered when it is clearly and visibly not - would you just pass on it?

only proof photos are if u can actuly see the pen to paper.
these autograph people who post with proof and posrt of picture of them with the celebertity or the celebirty walking in the street or randow signing is BS.
i have 10,000 photos of artist signing and walking the streets and backstage and on private jets.
if i sell something im always happy to tell the buyer the back story and if theres pictures them get them also.

Is this a "proof photo" to you? Seller swears this photo on left clearly shows LP on right being signed by the celebrity (it does not) - yet I do see sticker residue on the offered LP that is just not on the "proof photo" - Please, respond for a fellow member about to shell out $$$ for this. When I first did the blog exposing the Charity Auctions and Anthony Nurse, and all the charities that buy these bogus signatures...Anthony Nurse responded to the contact at Make a Wish. It showed a photo of him with some famous actress at a book signing (where they stand there and the star sits down behind a table). Also, he showed a photo of a bunch of people getting Brad Pitt's signature outside of the Letterman show. I told them, "This proves ABSOLUTELY NOTHING." First of all, at book signings, he wouldn't be able to get multiple items signed. Second, if he did, there are not photos of those items being signed. Third, showing a celeb signing autographs for a bunch of fans, is proof of nothing. But to the Make a Wish Foundation...they didn't care. They made money auctioning these items, and the people buying them didn't care so...they didn't understand why I cared so much.

Ok, 100% agree with all of these valid points, but here's another scenario...suppose you're by yourself and need to hold the items for the signer, thus negating the ability to get the 'pen on paper' photo...but then immediately after, the signer allows you to take a photo with them and you're holding the signed item in the photo clearly showing the signature...would this suffice as proof? Just curious...

yes ive done that with guitars .
u can clearly see the itiem and sigs but ive also done alot of solo signing so i aim the camera down and just keep shooting when they sign.it usauly works that way too,.i know its hard. ueser if u can rest the itiem on a baracade an shot when signing.

Well, John. my friend insists on paying a 66% premium for that damaged LP despite the fact that is is clearly not the item shown and he is being lied to by the seller. He believe $$$$ means increased authenticity and is making excuses for the seller so I can do little Off eBay too. (
