Ebay Seller Ob1duncan Sells Forged Signed Derek Jeter Jersey COA Not Steiner Sports

Two of the biggest scams on Ebay the last few years are scammers using an old/copied Scoreboard COA to sell their forgeries and the other being sellers of forgeries using an old/copied Steiner hologram to sell their forgeries.

In this case Ebay seller Ob1duncan recently sold and listed a forged Derek Jeter jersey with a so-called Steiner hologram for a whopping $260.00.

The Buy It Now price was $399.99 and the seller accepted $260.00.

Of course, as always, in cases like this, the sellers of the forged item never have the actual Steiner Sports COA card.

And who, in their right mind, sells an authentic Derek Jeter autographed jersey for only $260.00!!!!

But with Ebay so heavily-populated with delusional autograph collectors and impulse buyers, selling forgeries on Ebay is easier than selling authentic autographs.

In my opinion, Ebay is an enabler of this crap because they don't do anything about it.

While honest sellers of authentic autographs have difficulty selling their items, the sellers of forgeries don't have that problem.

And as you can clearly see below, the forged Jeter on the jersey sold by Ebay seller Ob1duncan is an obvious and blatant forgery.

I will continue to expose Ebay sellers of forgeries.

Why dont you share all the facts in regards to this jersey before you start posting trash. It clearly stated in my description the jersey did not pass JSA AUTHENTICATION. I was not trying to scam anybody, was selling jersey "as is". Item had a steiner hologram and that is how it was advertised.. I found very similar looking autos with a steiner COA and hologram......are these also fake???? I love how everybody is such a "expert"

Selling a forgery "as is"? That's funny

"As is "being no coa card, just the hologram. Some people only purchase steiner autographs because they witness the autograph, not authenticate based on opinion.

Brian, after it failed JSA, why didn't you just return it to the person who you bought it from?

Secondly, why didn't you question why it didn't come with a Steiner Sports COA card?

Who did you purchase it from and for how much?

Just curious.

I purchased it from the original owner. She purchased it in Texas and said she lost the card through her travels. She has a very large collection of memorabilia and was very honest about JSA. Between the jersey and frame she had 1k in it. She had JSA authenticate it and they would not. I purchased it "as is", just like I am selling it. I primarily purchased it for the frame, I took the jersey out of the frame to re-frame and put another jersey and sell this one.  I compared this with other jerseys for sale and felt it looked similar. No 2 signatures are the same but there are of course similarities and other things to look for, smoothness, pressure points etc. Picture attached is one with similar "D" which appears to be the big difference. From what I am hearing many people are stating steiner has a lot of fakes out there....... I was always under the impression steiner certifies when they do personal signings so somebody would have to counterfeit the hologram, which I am sure is not difficult. Unless somebody verifies the auto in person, no matter if your PSA JSA BSA there is always a queation of doubt if a auto is legit. Second picture is the jersey in the original frame. Why would a person spend that much if they knew a jersey was fake

I'd rather not get involved in this, but now you have me confused.

My primary question is why would someone buy an item just for the frame?

And secondly, that ebay advert states COA LOA.... so where is it. Or should I ask, where are they, because that reads like 2 TPA's included.

That's all I wanted to say.

The pic of similar auto is a screen shot, you can search it and see the original post on ebay in the recent sold.  The coa card is in the picture.  My experience, nice framing like the jeter was is 300$+. Figured I would sell the jeter, keep the frame for my use to frame another jersey and save a few dollars.

Brian, the bottom line is that the Jeter is a forgery.  A no-brainer forgery.

That is not authentic, Brian.

As a matter of fact, that same seller sold a forged Jeter baseball using a Steiner COA.

On this website, not only do we try to educate people on autographs, but we also expose those who sell forgeries.

On any given day on Ebay, more forgeries are sold than authentic autographs, and personally, I have been fed up with it for ten years.

While collectors and sellers of authentic autographs have difficulty selling their items on Ebay, sellers of forgeries continue to have success, and it bothers the crap out of me, and that's why I do what I do here.

A delusional autograph collector or impulse buyer, will look (as an example) at your $399.99 or Best Offer listing with the Steiner hologram as opposed to a legitimate Jeter signed autograph listing with a Buy It Now of say $799.99.

These are the same people who think that Ebay filters out forgeries when it's quite the opposite.  There is too much money for Ebay to lose if they were to remove the forgeries.

One of primary reasons why these sellers are successful, is because the sellers of forgeries know that people buy the COA (a piece of paper) and not the autograph.

In this case, they are buying "Steiner" and not the autograph.

And by the way, Steiner Sports does not care!!!

I read much of your posts Chris although I don't comment much because I don't collect baseball items. But what you bring to this forum has value no matter what autographs we are interested in.

I have to agree with you and thanks for posting your efforts. This world wide forgery business is like a virus and is out of control.

Thank the godz I found this site
