Thanks Cat. Appreciate it.

That's awesome! I kept my eye on those Madonna items because this really was a rare opportunity to get an early signature that you can feel 100% certain is authentic.

Thanks again all.  At this stage in my collecting I'm really focused on fewer pieces that are ideally unique, if not "one of a kind", something like that anyway.  This Madonna seemed to fit.  And to echo Seamus' comment, I felt like between the two items, I basically got 2-for-1 on price here.  I don't know John well, but he seems like the nicest guy and spent a lifetime on his collection.  I hope he feels that he did well overall, given the very high prices on some items and under market on others.  I'm not spending a lot of money these days on my collection, but that "legends guitar" feels to me like the one that got away; Yard Birds too.  At those prices, the buyers did extremely well.

I was curious for the price of the Abbey Road flat signed by 3. Once for sale for 18000, it went for 8892 dollar including buyer’s premium.

Tbh that is even more than I expected, didn’t thought it would go for more than 6000 so the Brennan factor plays a role here I think. I’m not a fan of it, I don’t get it why one would prefer this over a cheaper full vintage set.

A lot of very nice pieces in the auction, but some overpriced.

These were my winnings (screenshot from the invoice):

I also bid on the Snoop Dogg photo (because I wanted that full “Snoop Doggy Dogg” graph) but I was immediately outbid and decided to let it go as I only had a passing interest in him.

whats funny he also has a deal with another auction house and  his stuff sells for a 3rd less

the nirvana went for 11k because of the saying on it the other went for 4 k

I was wondering if perhaps the In Utero graph would have gone for more had it been on a record? CD booklets are small and don’t look as good when displayed, imo.

On that note, I was thinking maybe that’s why the photo went for so much, maybe? It’s a large oversized photo that would look great when put on display.

Without a doubt size was a major factor for the 11x14" photo selling for as much as it did. Doubt many pieces like that exist.

Plus the Kurt on the CD was smudged.

Some exceptional items in there for sure, but somehow I was expecting more from such a legendary collector. Loads of ugly or smudged autographs, contrast issues, bad quality photos, etc. Maybe he's still sitting on the good stuff, or it's already gone.

do u really think john gave them his good stuff to sell cheaply.

his prices are the highest in the business and he doesn't gamble he just cleaned out his crap

Now that you said it, that's exactly what it looked like to me (unloading a ton of crap), with a few top shelf pieces mixed in to help publicize the auction.

just try to buy the same things for him privately for what most stuff sold at auction he wont selling it u for.
