Hi All,

First of all would just like to say what a great forum,
some very interesting discussions. I'm just getting into collecting and only
have a very small collection so far so this is a great starting point!

I purchased a Michael Jackson autograph Thriller LP Flat
framed from Antiquities Of California back in 2009 and after reading some discussions
on some potential doubts with the store would like anyone to give me their
opinion. This wasn't cheap and after reading some of the reviews about
Antiquities of California would like to ask any collectors out there to give me
their own opinion on the authenticity.

I have actually visited the store when on vacation in SFO and this was one of my basis for buying from them as they seemed to be fairly reputable.

Would greatly appreciate anyone's time and assistance!

Thanks

Marc

It actually adds up. MJ couldn't do his usual "swingin" signature, which he also couldn't do on the T-shirt. You did great!
I agree with you Steve.  I have not seen anything like this poster before.
Besides MJ's signature looking a bit off, the first thing that makes me think it's not good is that "Love" isn't written like Jackson is known to have written it.
That's what I found Steve. It seems like the "Love" is way off from what i have seen on GottaHaveIt.com and RRAuction.com.
Steve: I made no comment on a poster. I only commented on the vintage Thriller LP and the Jacksons Destiny LP.

Also, it is very important for people to realize, and of course this adds to the difficulty in authenticating Jackson signatures, but very often his signature was not fluid. He would start and stop all of the time. His M may be at a totally different angle than the rest of his signature - same for the "J". When you are looking at signatures from the last two year of his life (which a VERY large majority of the authentic sigs on the market came from) he was signing the items in the back of his "Pope-Mobile" or limo as he was being taken to and from his destination for the day. Bumping around LA back streets with all 3 children climbing all over the place as he made his way to rehearsals, studios, boutiques, restaurants, doctors offices, etc. There were all kinds of obstacles involved. Typical protocol was dropping items with his security team in the morning and picking up the pile at the end of the night. Minus of course what MJ wanted to keep for himself. You had to wish for the best and hope the items came back without a lot of smudging or in a week pen. Like I said before, he was one of the absolute best at signature placement, so there was never any worry as to if he was going to sign it in the right area or not.

Hi Mr Altman !

What do you think about this autograph ?

Kind regards

I really don't see any problems with this MJ signature myself.

This one signed in pink is super fake. I'm an amateur and I think it's obvious. Sorry.

Because it looks nothing like an authentic one.

The sig in blue signed over the Billie Jean video pic-
I can't tell 100% cuz I'm still learning also, but it looks pretty good to me. I'm gonna say 85% sure it's good.

Would love to know if others think so too. :)

One thing to look for is where Michael signed.  It was pretty rare that he signed a dark pen into a dark area, or a light pen onto a light area.... he usually wrote his name on an open space where his fans could read it.  He didn't always do this, but most of the time he did.
