I believe that is a common forgery
Yeah, it seems like whenever Williams signature is “too good” it’s bad. Thanks Terrier
I’m much better at spotting the fake Mantles now, but damn...Ted Williams is not easy for me!
That’s how I feel. I’m getting better at Joe D & Mantle, but with Williams it seems like the smoother/cleaner they appear, the more likely they are to be fake.
DR that is generally true. Authentic Williams signed balls have a "personality", that these forgeries lack. And this one has the classic mistake of the open "d" and "a".
D R, the Ted Williams autograph is one tough signature. I'm much better with the Mantle, Mays, and DiMaggio, which isn't saying very much. Lol. You can learn a few tells about what the sig should have and not have, you'll develop an eye over time. I personally look for flow and then take it from there. I've studied his authentic autographs, over and over. After awhile when one comes up, you'll know what to look for. Like opened or closed letters. The way he hooks the d into the W. Things like that.
Also, the way Williams would back pedal on his a, or the follow through with his s, but again, it's all about the flow.
