Rare Mickey Mantle signed stat baseball sells Nov 2, 2019 for $49,999

Well...here’s one for persistence.  The seller has had this baseball for sale on eBay since July 4, 2018, and it sold just a couple of hours ago for the asking price of $49,999!!  

It very well may be a one-of-a-kind Mantle ball with several rare inscriptions.  For one, Mantle included his Hall of Fame induction year of 1974.  But rather than inscribing “HOF ‘74” he inscribed “Hall of Fame 1974”. Mantle also included the number of home runs he hit, the years he won the MVP award, the year he won the Triple Crown, and the number of home runs he hit in the World Series.  I remember some of us discussing whether the seller could actually get basically $50k for this special ball even though it may be one-of-a-kind.  Well, it looks like he got it.

Now, I’ve got a very rare Prince signed poster from 1978 for sale for $49,998 (even cheaper) if anyone’s interested ;0)

It’s definitely a beautiful piece, and if not one-of-a-kind, it’s rare I’m sure.  It’s the only one I’ve seen like that.

I d love to have it, but for that much, you could get a very nice Ruth ball which I’d rather have than this Mantle.  Of course, the buyer probably already has a very nice Ruth.

I also didn’t think it would find a buyer at that price.
