This looks genuine to me. Very pointy loops. Very good. Obviously the ink pen smudged a little.

This is early 1950-52

Also the "y" is particularly Marilyn malformed, perfect really.

Steve C, if you see this post - look at this one, it's a got a lot in common with the Bement/Atlantic postcard signing you have had doubts about (that we discussed, which I think is real).

Thanks Pauline, I appreciate the input. The photo was pulled from its auction without explanation. I've reached out to the auction house requesting a reason. I'll update here if/when I hear back.

Interesting. Unless there is some new way of forging, some overlay or something I would think genuine and right for the era. The photo is 1950. 

Perhaps it has been sold privately.

The auction house replied saying "the Marilyn Monroe signed photo was pulled from the auction as there were questions to the authenticity of it." I guess we won't get a definitive answer one way or the other now ....

I think it's a confusing because it's not typical. That's why she is hard to pick sometimes, but even when she is not writing "like herself" she is, all the characteristics are there anyway.

In my experience auction houses will sell what they think they can sell, authenticity aside.
