i have a pickguard signed by pete towhnsend he signed it cindy crawford
Can you tell us more of this story? Did he appear to be in a bad mood? Was he a bit...drunk. Did he say "You're going to sell this on eBay" or what? I'd love to hear the story. And...can ya post a photo?
I consider those things awesome. Just realize, you will NEVER be able to sell it, but...who cares. You have a cool, unique item. In one of the Doors books I read, Morrison signed an autograph using the name of some 17th century poet. I'm sure the girls got home, realized it wasn't his name, and threw them away. Imagine how cool it would be to have those now. Now, in regards to Townshend signing Cindy Crawford -- that's kind of annoying, because...it's a friggin' pickguard! If it was an album or photo, it's kinda silly, and you realize Pete was being the jerk he can often times be, and you don't mind (and autograph experts could tell it's in Pete's hand). What I would do is...try to meet Cindy Crawford, tell her the story, and have her sign it "Pete Townshend".
I saw a movie poster signed by the cast, and comedian Tig Natarro (sp?) signed her name: This is Tig's Autograph (which is cool)
he did it as a joke as he no longer signs guitars or parts it was in the 90s i was one on one with him at an event and asked him and he said sure when i pulled the pickguard out and just signed it cindy crawford as a joke. thats it my friends witnessed its so its a running joke now
yes i sill have it
If a celebrity signs another name or word, is it still an autograph? No.
Is it an example of their handwriting? Yes. And if it is enough to compare to other handwriting samples then it might be authenticatable.
I know someone who threw a Hail Mary and tried to get a Neil Armstrong autograph long after he had stopped signing. She sent him a photo of him and Mickey Mouse that had been taken years earlier at one of the parks. NA inscribed the photo to her and signed it "Mickey". There was enough handwriting there to get it passed on a quick opinion submission.
The most common one here would be wrestlers, many of whom routinely change names, gimmicks, etc.
Here is a signed Nirvana In Utero DGC Promotional Poster that was donated by David Geffen Foundation on March 24,1994 to a charity event in Connecticut. It was 12 days before Kurt Cobain death. Kurt signed "Koit". It is an Estonian masculine name meaning dawn. Or it could be a female anatomy !!!! ;)
