Should I split the album in half

I just Acquired this MEGA RARE Skynyrd “One More From The Road” 1 of 75 Full band Autographs with all 3 of the Honkettes signatures, my question to you all is that Steve Gaines signature is on the back of the album, and not on the front. If I was to frame this and get the album split in half to display all the signatures, Would it DEVALUE the Album or would it be best not to get it framed at all? I am open to Suggestions.

Do not, under any circumstances, split the album.

any framer can make a double sided frame.

I agree with this that the majority of collectors will say its best to leave it as is, but unless the double sided frame will be revolving from the middle of the room, it will never be enjoyed fully. Im one for enjoying my graphs and will always choose overall enjoyment over value.

Depending on how its constructed, would you be able to carefully take apart the seams? Im not sure if all old jackets were created equal but I have a few that are naturally coming apart anyways. Gluing back together is a simple process which a lot of people do to their old jackets and well documented.. Taking it apart for framing may be reversible if you decide to go that route

I would never, ever take apart a record sleeve in order to display both sides. Even if you avoid tearing or creasing the sleeve in the process, it goes against all the tenets of collecting rare records. Any serious collector would tell you the same thing.

The record has made it 47 years in (presumably) good shape, and you’ve (presumably) paid a good deal of money to own it now. Do you really want to devalue your investment, and potentially ruin the record forever, by messing with something that was never intended to be messed with?

Personally, I’m not a fan of framing record sleeves at all. It involves separating the record from the sleeve, and, over time, the sleeve can become discoloured, and the signatures faded, if exposed to sunlight. My personal philosophy is only to frame things like posters and photographs, which are more of a natural fit for being hung on a wall. LPs, even signed ones, are stored carefully, in a protective sleeve, with the rest of my records.

I don’t tell other people what to do with their own possessions, but I encourage you to think long and hard about this one.
