I have a question. Yesterday I was the high bidder on this GNR album at $350. Which seemed like a great deal. Even got confirmation email saying I was the highest bidder and a the time was the only bidder. Now today when I checked I was no longer listed as a bidder on the item at all. Someone else was the 1 and only minimum bidder at $750. I was never informed of any error or change. I think by mistake they listed it at the wrong price and then later changed it. Now there is no record of it except these screenshots I made. What do you think?Screenshot_20230702_151658_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20230702_151651_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20230702_151623_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20230702_151623_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20230702_151552_Email.jpg

Call them and see what kind of explanation they offer.

I have tried calling them with no luck. I have also sent them a couple of emails over the past 2 days asking them with no response. Funny though, when I emailed them a general question about info on some other items they quickly responded with an answer within a couple of hours.

This has happened to me before.  What I found is that while they are readying the auction, it becomes visible but the auction isn't officially started.  I think once they start it up, they wipe everything clean that might have come in while they were getting it up and running.  That's what happened in my case...so MAYBE that's what happened here?

That makes sense. My only issue with it is that I wasn't notified and also I have emailed them for 2 days as to what happened and haven't received an answer. However they did respond to another email of mine asking them about a couple other items.

Agreed.  They need to at least let the bidder know what happened...or at a minimum respond to questions.  They owe both the buyer and the seller that for the fees that are charged

yes they post items items before the actual auction starts, then they disappear, and then reappear when the auction actually starts.  Seen it happen many times, but why I dont know.

I like Iconic. I think they're a solid auction house that has become better and better over the years.

Thanks for the info.

Yes, they are pretty good. I bought four signed albums there last month for decent prices.

There is definitely something sketchy going on with this Auction House. I was high bidder on a lot (that I desperately was interested in) for a few days until the last night (last 2 hours) when the lot was WITHDRAWN! Along with the reviews I read on Google about all the “dirty pool” going on at this AH I will not be giving them my business and offer this testimonial to other prospective bidders.

Sorry to hear that.  My experience with them has not been the best either, Nick.

I own an item today that was in one of their auctions awhile back.  I actually had seen it in the auction and had placed a bid on it but was outbid and someone else "won" it.  Lo and behold, it turns up on eBay shortly afterward and the seller tells me they  were the original consignor with that auction house.  It "sold" for a rather hefty price...but consignor confirmed it didn't sell which is why it ended up on eBay.

All is well that ends well because I paid less for it later offered on eBay than what my original losing bid was with the auction house.

I also had to block the auction house phone number eventually because I was getting constant pre-recorded phone calls reminding me of whatever their latest auction was.

Yep, I received one of those pre-recorded phone calls tonight. I thought it was a confirmation of a prescription that I had ready but it was this dumb call. In my book that’s amateur hour tactics in the auction world. I implore people to read the reviews on Google.
