Death of a Salesman 1951 Frederic March Signed as Willy SP by Lippmann, McCarthy SP, Key Book Onset Candid, Lee Cobb NBC Still & an Arthur Miller Candid
Hi All,
Some of my Death of a Salesman collection. The Fredric March SP is signed in character and is an in-between-scenes candid. Mildred Dunnock, who originated the role of Linda Loman in 1949 on Broadway opposite Gene Lockhart. is also shown. The next is Kevin McCarthy (Biff), a signed original still of the big scene. Then a production onset still by Lippmann with a complete listing of everyone in the photo and their job on the back. Next is an NBC 8/26/66 still with color blurb, and then a color candid by Peter Warrack from 1975. In the 1966 version. Bernard was played by a young Gene Wilder.

Eric, I love all of these great actors/actresses that you have shared here.
My favorite Frederic March movie is "Inherit The Wind" with the great Spencer Tracy.

Oh yes, but I sometimes think that George C. Scott did a better job of self-destructing at the end in comparison with the remake with Jack Lemmon. I might mention the comparison of Scott to Cobb in 1997's(?) remake of Twelve Angry Men as well. Two powerhouses. Forces of nature.

That Scott to Cobb comparison is intriguing, Eric. I'll stick with Lee J. Cobb, but George C. Scott also has a powerful performance.

You are in good company Christopher! Miller preferred Cobb (over Lockhart and Hoffmann) - that is where I took the phrase "Powerhouse". I am certain that Scott played Willy Loman, but how...I don't know. I can see him showing weakness.

RE Christmas, I have never seen It's a Wonderful Life, I put it off every year for some year when I really need it (54 and counting), but I always watch this miraculous episode with Carney. And then, as it is cold, I usually watch the one with Robert Redford. Also a little miracle. THat old woman is marvelous. And probably in other episodes.

Funny you mention that; I, too, have never watched It's A Wonderful Life.
But I am a nut about the majority of the Christmas Carol movies.
My favorite being the one with June Lockhart and her parents, and her father, who played the Judge in the movie "Miracle On 34th Street."

Thank you! I enjoy both of them, Scott and March, in Inherit the Wind. Scott brought a human quality that seemed lacking a bit with March. He was almost "superhuman" , mechanical in thought and flawed. But not, to me, relatable. Scott seemed like a man, at the end of the day. Relatable. Not nulike what he did in Twelve Angry Men.

You make a good point, Eric, about Mr. March in Inherit The Wind, but as much as March might have been "superhuman" I found his performance "raw."
That is one outstanding movie.
And as much as Gene Kelly was known for his dancing, he was a terrific actor.

Agreed. It was Raw, just unavailable to me as I could not relate at all. That is just me.
Kelley was an amazing actor. His role in that film bordered on magical, dare I say it.
