In my late teens I was obsessed with collecting MJ memorabilia, although I didn't venture into the realm of autographs back then. Sometime in 2010 I found this Thriller album on eBay for what I considered to be a more affordable price. I no longer have the purchase history on my eBay account, but I did contact the seller beforehand. He told me the record had been authenticated by Rare & Signed, which at the time was considered to be a trustworthy business. We had a R&S store fairly close to my hometown back then & I'd often been in there for a look around. Obviously that was before Jason Cullen was exposed as a massive fraud. I contacted my local store & they confirmed the 'authentication.' Naively I thought I'd done enough research. I had major impulse control issues back then, & in a moment of utter madness I bought the damn thing. I look back now & marvel at my stupidity. The record's been hiding in a cupboard since then; I guess I always suspected deep down it was fake but just didn't want to admit it. It's been such a long time now that I don't particularly care about the money; it could have been a lot worse. I just wish I hadn't been so idiotic. Oh well, you live & learn. A cautionary tale for my future kids! Now that I can consult a forum of experienced experts, it's almost a relief to find out for certain. Is this a definite forgery?
Thanks for the confirmation. Live & learn, I guess. Thank goodness it was relatively inexpensive. I have no idea what to do with the damn thing now. A bonfire, perhaps?
