No from me. Drawn. Framed as well.
I know this might come across as elitist on "non-inclusive" but I do wonder whether examples as bad as this are even worthy of discussion on this site. It is certainly OK for novice "newbies" to post things that experienced collectors wouldn't look twice at but I would urge more experienced members to do some due diligence of their own and not even post examples as way-off as this.
+1
I agree...
Post them all. Educating lesser experienced collectors and simply fans need the education they get from Autograph Live members the most by far.
We have helped thousands of people over the years avoid buying forgeries, get refunds if they did, and in a number of cases sue forgery sellers.
All but a few percent of people who come to Autograph Live read and do research, they don't join unless they want to join the conversation.
I understand what you're saying Steve.
I'm only talking about discussions started by experienced members who are used to researching autographs, particularly if they are already familiar with the autographs of the signer in question. If anyone else sees or has bought an autograph they are unsure about then, of course, they should not hesitate to ask for opinions.
It goes without saying that any member, experienced or not, should be able to post items they think have a realistic chance of being real. and this may well apply in tis case. On the other hand, if too many autographs are posted that are already known to be "not right" the relevant experts on this site may just give up looking at, or contributing to, discussions that really do add educational value and protect buyers.
Hi. Thanks for your your input.
It's a perfectly reasonable point you make.
I should clarify that I wasn't trying to insert clear forgeries for the sake of discussion.
I have learnt a lot on this site and would consider myself pretty good now, as a result.
But I am now trying to move to the 'next stage ' where I contact auction houses to let them know. So am suddenly less confident in my abilities(!) So I guess I was trying to get some second opinions first(!) So my apologies to the forum. I will learn to trust my knowledge and instincts more! I did email my first auction house recently !!
Thanks Steve, I know that I need all the help I can get
these are awful
Indeed. Lots of opportunities to learn for those that want or need it!
