I read somewhere where it said that it helps to turn the autograph upside down an ALSO examine the autograph from that angle also- Do you all think that this holds water??

Funny, I have heard that as well but never tried it. I will give it try soon and report back.

My mentors taught me to always look at the end of the signature first as many forgers seem to have the most difficulty with that portion.

that makes alot of sense too -]

It doesn't help me to look at it upside down. Probably in special cases, with certain autographs, it could be beneficial.

that really doesnt make much sense to me.  the best way to evaluate an autograph is compare to as many known exemplars as possible.

I think the idea is to compare it to real exemplars that are also upside down. Probably not necessary for routine items with low risk, but if you have a suspect item, it provides another angle of attack. It's possible your eyes may pick up on something they may miss looking at it the "normal" way.

I felt the same way ...thinking about it!
