Looking for an opinion on an Obama signature
Hi All,
My first post....
A friend of mine obtained the following signature at an Obama rally last month & I am looking for opinions about authenticity. The signature is on a photo & my concerns are that it seems to have characteristics of an autopen.... Any opinions? Thanks....

I thought the same thing . But that one curves down with the "bama" part . This one goes up . Some good things about the photo . But alot of things not the same , mainly how the B always seems to line up in the same spot. But on the photo the B is way out .

Its his first signature as president. Signed on some kinda of card stock .
Im assuming it was copied to be put on presidental items such as letter heads, letter of importance that he cant sit and sign.

What I see for the first time besides the photo is rounding on the "ama" of Obama. The small letters have always had some sharp points unless on the other I've seen.
These are signed in all sorts of situations. I didn't have a problem with the loop of the B...I've seen it in various shapes. It was the small letters that bothered me.
I think it's genuine now. Really glad you posted that one, Anthony.

I am very impressed with you work and your knowledge of autographs. I see and agree with many of your points, that is why I said it does take a lot of time to truly examine an autograph that is so close yet questionable. You are going to be a hell of an autograph authenticator, if you continue to brake down autographs in this way. You should keep a file and get as many in-person exemplars as possible and mark them by dates and locations. Your points are all will taken but as soon as I get some time, I am going to post some authentic Obama's that will brake some of your theories. Thank you for this great presentation point, I will definitely make a copy and keep this with my Obama file.

Thanks Mike. Please understand If Psa or Jsa was on this board I would treat them the same exact way . It has nothing personal against you .
Looking at all the Obamas , some do against the grain in one or two of my points on why this not authentic. The ones that are authentic and do go against the grain only have one thing out of characteristic . Compared to this one having maybe 6 or 7 things going against a typical Obama signature.
Its just a crappy thing to happen to a autograph collector , when the people come to collect the stuff for the person to sign. ( You cant say 1000% sure you saw it signed) Then something like this comes back to you , and yo uhave to question it . Roger talked about it with Brian Wilson of the Beach boys.
I had Sir Paul collect items twice while going for him . Both cam back with his typical style graph . Plus he came out , rolled down the window and asked if everyone got there items back that he signed. So I guess that was some what of confirmation he knew they collected the items.

I am not a student of this signature, but from what I've seen here, if this is a proxy signature, it's a damn impressive knock off for someone sitting on the back of a campaign bus.
