Any Jagger experts out there?  Does PSA/DNA really know musicians?

Steve maybe you can tell me.   I have not used PSA/DNA do they send a letter telling who authenticates each item or do they just have a "blanket" statement that it was checked by "the company"?

If you can`t trust PSA/DNA, who in the hell do we trust nowadays...might as well quit collecting autographs!!!!

I think it's accurate to say PSA screws up it's fair share of stuff, so, for me personally, their certification means very little.  I'm surprised no one else has chimed in on this though.  I though we had a decent number of people familiar with Jagger on this site.

I agree that PSA does make mistakes.. quite often even... but now your asking for the opinions of a group of nameless anonymous online community who may have no clue what they are talking about.. and often they dont... that being said... the Jagger looks good.. but ya better send it another 6 authenticators so that the whole side of the record is covered in stickers, just to be sure...

I must have missed the requirement butt-ugly stickers on the front of the item are necessary for authentication.  There are certainly better methods that don't require defacing your item with pure gaudiness.

Not everyone on this site is nameless.  There are some top names in the hobby on here, as well as lesser-known people who genuinely know their stuff.  Sometimes there are heated debates about items, but many times there is a consensus.  If an autograph is obscure or rare (or the site is lacking in people with any specific knowledge of the item), you might not hear much of a response.  Sure you'll get people talking out of their a-- from time to time.  But you'll also stumble upon some people with a genuine knowledge and acute interest in the specific autographs who undoubtedly have a greater compentency in some areas than the PSA crew.

Two of my favorite musical acts are U2 and Florence and the Machine.  I am especially interested in autographs from them.  So when I see PSA bless off on items from them they can't possibly authenticate, I think it's fair to call them out for a half-ass job:

I refuse to believe PSA could conclusively determine these were authentic based on the signatures alone.  The fact that they certified them shows utter carelessness.  It's one thing to get fooled or to miss something from time to time, but these items just suggest that they didn't even try.

In all honesty both those Bonos are so bad a forger wouldnt even try to get them passed.... PSA is also well known to... lets just say... give ya more of the benefit of the doubt when you bring in large numbers of items and the rest of the autos are spot on... looks like what happened with this seller... if you brought in those 2 Bonos and nothing else, they would fail... if you brought in 500 other items that are good the Bonos are now 100% genuine!!!!

I actually think the Florence is authentic, but that's because I remember that an IP seller on ebay was selling it some months ago (I think you can still find it in "completed listings).  Again, though, they shouldn't be considering the source, not the signature.  And that's a poor racker-style example that really exhibits almost nothing of her true signing characteristics.  I've seen them bless off on several more of these, and it has to be based solely on them taking the source into account.

I´m not an expert, but this looks solid.

In my experience PSA (and JSA) are very conservative when it comes to music autographs. They have both turned down a few pieces Ive gotten IP and I have never seen a "likely genuine" quick opinion on anything that doesn't already have another solid certification.

I don't see anything wrong with that Jagger, although if it is the one currently on eBay, I'm not sure it is worth the price tag it will eventually sell for. Check out the JSA certified queen album, much better investment in my opinion. Hope this helps!

Aren't they supposed to authenicate based on the signature alone, not a "solid certification"?  Seems like a pretty shoddy approach.
