Hello everyone,

Buddy Guy is undeniably one of the greatest blues men alive and his signature is quite collectible. Surprisingly, Guy is a very good TTM signer, or at least he used to be as of 2 years ago. All of his TTM signatures tend to look the same and are very meticulous and neat, typically with every letter clear and visible in the signature.

Yet in quite a few IP Buddy Guys, and quite a few PSA/JSA certed items, the signature is not nearly as neat. And while the TTM and IP signatures do compare in some areas, in others they seem to be different. The IP graphs tend to be messier and less deliberate. Now of course this could be blamed on signing conditions (sit down/vs stand up, etc), but i still am unsure of them.

I would value anyone else's opinions on this matter. Do you think his TTM signatures are real or secretarial??

Here is a TTM example:

And here is a PSA certed Guy:

Here are a handful of other PSA items. PSA seems to have certed both styles. But i cant help but wonder if the same hand signed both of them.

Here are a few more examples. One thing that worries me in cases like this, is that it seems like their are basically 2 types of signatures here. But at the same time, one thing that speaks towards the authenticity of the items, is that their are several examples of signatures on the body of guitars that weren't likely signed TTM.

Here are some examples all certed by PSA

Although this doesnt hold true for every case.

In my eyes their are 2 signers here. Their is the common TTM kind, where every letter can be read, and everything is neat and tidy. (also typically dated). And then their is another version where the singature is typically sloppier, the B is often left open and seems formed a little different, and letters are often missing from the name. Typically the U or Y in Guy, and typically the Y or a D in Buddy.

Now they easily may be from Guy himself, but it just seems very odd that Guy's TTM signature would be that neat compared to IP examples. I just cant help but think that Guy has a secretary signing for him.

Thoughts?

In my eyes The TTM version, such as the one dedicated to Chris, seems to be a secretary.

Even when i look at the guitar below signed on the body, although much neater than typical IPs, their are differences than those from TTM. The TTM examples also seem to typically be signed in a straight line, where as Guy often will stack his name IP. To me the B is a key factor, as well as its formation.

And PSA does cert both versions. They cert both the TTM and IP examples. The more i search the more i see this. But i still doubt they are being signed by the same person.
