I was looking on StarTiger and found many cool examples from a dealer called Alfies of Hollywood.  They were listed deep in Google as Alfies.com but there was no web site.  Their stuff was awesome.  Where did they go?  Did they retire?

Here's my vague recollection of the company.  I remember thinking they seemed legit (this was a novice opinion mind you) but incredibly overpriced when I looked into them in the late 90's.  I believe the owner/collector's name was Alfie Pettit.  I recall hearing that the business was sold at some point, but, yes, they seemed to have just sort of faded away.

Maybe someone else has a more complete history on them . . .

Yes, Alfie's was a legit company that ended several years ago.  The original owner, Alfie Petit, sold the company to a couple of guys when he became terminally ill.   They kept it going for awhile but never got it back to where Alfie had it.  Later they went there separate ways and that's as far as I know.

Alfie was active selling a few years ago. I bought a wonderful mid-90's Harrison Ford from him when he started sending email lists out. This was around the time that Michael Jackson died.
I can tell you that Alfie's was legit, at least up until he sold it. After that I stopped buying- I received a few items from the new owner and I thought they were questionable. I had developed a pretty good rapport with Alfie and just trusted him- his stuff looked great and he had the best stories. He even had a bunch of his encoun ters on video, just great.

Sadly he wasn't always "legit"... he scammed me on a Christopher Lee autograph about 11-12 years ago.  Bear in mind that the "Admin" of this website is Christopher Lee's son in law...

Yes, Alfie was always legit. After he sold it, it went to s***. The new owner, Mark something or another either was a crook or had zero clue what he was selling.

I'd bet my mortgage that Lee came after Alfie was gone.

Yeah I thought it was strange... because my first autograph from Alfie came in 97 or 98 and he got me one from Michael Keaton whilst at the airport (and even included a picture of Keaton with the poster in the baggage area)... so I just assumed they were legit.  I never knew about the sale of the company.  Twas a real shame.  Whoever it was that owned it in 2002 stiffed me out of $100 or so for the Christopher Lee autograph.  I sent the photo back (like an idiot) and never got a refund.  Grrr...

2002 Alfie was gone. Mark is one I'd like to track down and have a talk with.

when was Alfie's sold? I have a Peter Fonda autographed pic dated 12-04-01 and how would I know if it's legit?

It was early 2000's. It still may be good- Mark bought Alfie's inventory, so Alfie may have procured your Fonda. Who signed your COA? Post a pic and let some folks have a look.

It looks like an "Md" but not sure. I will have to play around with taking a picture and uploading it because I've been using a different operating system. This may take a little time. Thanks and as soon as I can get it done, I'll post it.
