Typical Mantle forgery

Comes with a "Forensics Document Services" COA. LOL. $99 BIN, looking to dump it quick on someone.

Typical Mickey Mantle forgery listed on Ebay these days.

First off, I want to apologize to anyone who came across my Ebay post. I did not know this was a forgery. I am removing the listing and will do some major investigating.

2nd, I hope you don't put all the people you find selling forgeries on blast the same way you put me out there. I wish someone would have came to me first and had asked me questions about my listing before accusing me of selling forgeries. As a law enforcement and a business owner, my name is everything.

So let me begin by explaining how I got the photo. Within my  company I do Ebay sales for thrift stores in the area. Most of the thrift stores get their inventory from legally purchased storage units. I help them sell some of the things that they can't sell in the store. This item in particular happened to be found in a storage unit with many other signatures and memorabilia from all kinds of sports. All or most of the items were purchased from QVC. So when I noticed this item, and it's COA, I had no reason to believe that it was a fake. Upon my research of the COA, it revealed that she is in fact a real forensic analysis for signed documents. Upon my research from ebay, similar signatures have only sold for the same price and/or less. So thus, why it was only $99 bid.

I have removed my listing until we get it further checked out. I would appreciated, and I am sure anyone in my position would appreciate, if you would contact me first and maybe just letting me know that you are about to bash my name on the internet. Thank you for the info on this photo.

PS, if you could please remove my Ebay name and tag from this photo, I would appreciate it.

Thanks Don for pulling the forgery. you can see how deep these forgeries go, Fancy Forensic COA included.

The reason your research shows Similar Mantle Fakes going for $99.00 is because that's what happens when crooks like E-bay (not you) starts letting these forgeries back into the market place. I sold an 8 X 10 Mantle 4 months ago for $300.00 with NO COA. That was right about the time e-bay started to let these phonies back into the market. That photo is not particularly collectible and a real one used to go for about 125-150. Sadly, this one is not real. You should have no trouble if you stick to what you know...computers...leave the autograph forgeries to the scum bags that are out there passing this stuff as real. Thanks for doing the right thing.

How can you tell this is a fake? With my research of other real autographs, this appears to have the smooth M and e.

DC, thank you for pulling the item.

It's a well known forgery. Smooth "M"? These "M"s are horrible. Shaky and slow.

For a very brief intro to the most common Mantle forgeries, see my post below:

I will check it out. Could you please pull my ebay name from your listing. Just list it as "Another forgery on eBay" or something to that effect. I would appreciate it.

DC, out of respect for you coming to AML in a civil manner (unlike 99.9% of the forgery sellers we expose), and pulling the auction, I will do something I do not normally do and edit the discussion.

I Appreciate it. Also, the link still links to the deleted item. Could you fix that too please. Also know that I will be giving the photo back to the original owner and he can do with it what he likes. Thank you for your info and i will keep a better eye out for things of this nature.

DC Computers, do you study autographs?  No you don't.  Autographs are meant to have the appearance of looking authentic, and the sellers of forgeries know that.

Many of us here have studied autographs for a long time.

We do appreciate you removing your listing.

You are right, i don't study autographs. What's your point? This is why i am in this mess. Do you read before you post? I think you need to read up, i explained myself once. I will not do it again specially to someone like you. Read your facts and use your had before you post. PS, Steve, isn't it against your policy to post the same subject twice? Mr Chris here posted the same post about me using the same pictures as this one. A deletion is in order.

Thank you

Don Lovejoy

My point being that you shouldn't be selling anything that you know nothing about.

You listed that Mickey Mantle for one reason, and one reason only; and that was to flip it for a profit.  No one has an issue with that, but if you're going to do that, you better know what you are selling.
