Maris Signed Baseball Forgery listed by ebay seller Sailnautilus
for some reason, ebay refused to pull this ridiculous Roger Maris forgery. here is the link:

if this were authentic, it would go for 3 or 4 times the starting price, yet there are no bids. Of course, if the starting price were .99 cents, there would be 78 bids on it and the price would be up to 400 dollars by now.

Looks like Ebay seller Sailnautilus is another in a long line of Ebay sellers who is using a Scoreboard COA to sell a Ted Williams forgery.

I am sailnautilus, the lister of these items. Please see my response on the Maris ball listing.
My husband collected a huge amount of baseball memorabilia, particularly focusing on Ted Williams as he was a personal friend of his. My husband fished with him in the FL keys and supported the development of the museum.
I have over 2000 autographed articles collected over decades and went to Rich Altman of Hollywood Collectibles to help me disperse this collection. He has been most helpful, and brought authenticators in as many of these objects were one of a kind personal items. The bulk of the collection was not a problem, but several items that I personally saw Ted Williams sign were deemed forgeries.... I was physically present when he signed these items, and later we obtained letters of authenticity from the director of the Ted Williams museum. The authenticators still deemed these articles as forgeries. I guess it is just an opinion......
The Ted Williams lithograph which I have listed with the COA was purchased at the Walt Disney World sporting goods store... I was an executive at Disney and purchased this for my husband. One would assume that an autograph purchased through a reputable retail establishment with a COA was legitimate, but I now see that may not be the case.
I will warn anyone who may be interested in purchasing these listings that they do so at their own risk... I am not an expert and am offering them at face value.
The sooner I am done dealing with this collection, the better!!!! I am realizing that the collectible autograph industry is questionable at best!!

If your husband was great friends with Ted Williams like you said, then why would he need or want an autographed photo that you or he had to purchase???
If he was good friends with him as you say, then he could easily get Williams to sign any item he could possibly want and only have to pay for the price of the unsigned item. It doesnt make really any sense.
Next, you cant use the old "buyer beware" clause in an ebay listing and expect to be covered from wrong doing. As an ebay seller you have to MAKE SURE that your items are authentic before posting. THAT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, and if these forgeries sell, then that makes you a seller of forgeries. How difficult is it to send in the items for a 8 dollar quick opinion to PSA, or post a thread here or elsewhere asking for opinions? If anything, allowing these items to be sold after you have been told they are forgeries by the most experienced baseball collectors you will ever find, makes you just as guilty as if you penned them yourself, b/c you know their authenticity is in doubt.
If these sell, you have to take into account that at some point, they will probably be linked to this discussion, where they will realize they bought a forgery and will want their money back. This forum shows up on any google search as does your ebay name.

My husband, Robert White, was an executive at Bear Archery and a friend of Teds for over 20 years. He hunted and fished with Ted, and was a great supporter of the museum in its early days. He succumbed to cancer after a long illness. Many items in the collection were signed by Ted personally, but my husband never wanted to take advantage of his friendship with Ted, he would never purchase items just to have Ted sign them. I happened to purchase the signed lithograph I have listed when I worked at Disney, as I had not seen the lithograph and I thought he would enjoy it....it was a nice depiction of Ted and I gave it to my husband as a Christmas gift. My husband was very knowledgable, and never questioned the authenticity of the signature, and he enjoyed the lithograph immensely.
I am allowing the auctions to end, but I have included the copy of my initial response on the listing for the Maris ball. I am not going to list any further memorabilia on ebay, I will disperse the collection through dealers who have expressed an interest in it. As I said, I am appalled at the "dark side" of autographed memorabilia, and I have no confidence in the opinions expressed here or in the opinions of the "paid authenticators" who deemed objects I saw Ted sign in person as forgeries.
It is unfortunate that all of this resulted from an honest man who had a sincere passion for the game of baseball, and a sincere respect for one of the heroes of the game. To think that he has been deceived by dealers of forged memorabilia reflects upon this entire industry.

Well congrats, you have now joined the dark side of memorabilia, so apparently you arent to appauled or you wouldnt let certain forgeries sell on your ebay account. You should be ashamed.
And on the same subject, why not post your real name on this site since you have nothing to hide. And also why dont you post the comments given by members here on your ebay site, including everyone telling you they are forgeries. No, you will conveniently leave that out wont you.
