Ebay Forgeries at their very worst. You won't believe your eyes!

So as I sit here admiring my authentic collection of signed photographs, helmets, baseballs, etc I decided to take a stroll through ebay and other sites and try and figure out what makes people buy forgeries.

I would assume if someone is buying an autograph they must have some desire for it to be authentic.  Are these people just convincing themselves the crap they buy is authentic?  They can't be buying it to flip because as you will see in all of my following posts....these things are so horrific that even Freddy Krueger would be afraid.

How do items like the following get bids?  Explain that to me.  I truly have a desire to figure out what is going through a buyers mind when they bid on this crap.

This Favre sold for 71 dollars.  What is crazy about this situation is that for just about 50 dollars more they could have bought a Favre Hologram signed composite football.  This is one sad looking forgery.

The seller of this ball claims that this is a ball that was signed when Montana was in 10th grade.  Look I'll be honest, I couldn't say for sure this is fake because exemplars of a Montana full name signature are scarce.  To me this just seems very odd.  It looks like it was written by a 1 year old.

Someone bought this God awful Derek Jeter forgery.  It looks as if Michael J. Fox was trying to forge Derek Jeter's autograph.  This one is laughable.  No flow, No structure, No chance of this being authentic.

I'm sure someone has this Ruth forgery nicely framed and matted with a photo.  I would bet this came from Coaches Corner.  It looks like one of their serve em' up specials

This is one ugly looking Namath forgery.  Once again, it is hard to believe someone looked at this when they got done forging the signature and thinking they did a good job

Nice camera work, too.  Like that's going to mask how bad these are.

JohnJohn!!!

You have to remember that the people bidding on and buying this stuff are not collectors like those on this site that are skilled in spotting a forgery vs an authentic signature.  Most of these people are regular fans who see a "great deal" and jump on it.  Its human nature, people want things cheap.  Would you rather pay $200 or $50 if you thought the $50 one was real?  Every person buying these things I can guarantee you think they are real simply because they either don't know what their real autograph looks like or it looks similar enough to real ones to them that they think its real.  They aren't scrutinizing every detail of the signature like you and other people on this site.  Its another reason why so many people rely so much on PSA and other third party authenticators when deciding to buy something.  They aren't knowledgeable or able to tell if something is real themselves so they rely on other "experts" to do it for them.

Jerome, let me give you an example.  I don't collect comic books, but If I were going to buy a comic book as a gift for someone and it was 100 dollars, you can bet your bottom I would do research before I purchased it.   The blame is just as much on the people who buy this crap.  They keep these forgers in business.

Also, these signatures are pathetic.
