Hey everyone!

I am new here.  Not new to collecting but starting to take it VERY serious and trying to learn as much as possible!

I'm looking into these two autographs from Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis (pictured below.)

The Chuck Berry: 8x10 image

  • Registered dealers with the UACC (RD#212)
  • Come with a certificate of authenticity from Mike Munns Autographs.

2 RED FLAGS: This seems to be a very tough signature.

This dearlers sharpie colors tend to be VERY convenient. (dark picures with light sharpies, light pictures with dark sharpies.)

The Jerry Lee Lewis: 8x10 image

  • UACC Registered Autograph Dealer #192
  • Certificate of Authenticity (COA) provided (I'm not sure whose on it though)

RED FLAG: Seller has 3 of these in stock.  I just don't see the Killer sitting there railing off a bunch of Autographs for someone to sell.

I would appreciate as much feedback as possible!

Thanks & Happy Collecting,

Joey

On the two I just mailed him I asked him to write "Killer" on one and "Great Balls of Fire" on the other. I figured I might as well ask and see what happens. If mine comes back and you find it questionable, I will contact them again for clarification or a refund if they are not signed by Jerry Lee.

Agreed!

UPDATE!!!!!!

I just did an opinion from Roger on the Jerry that I just got in the mail and this is what he replied with

"I have never seen him sign like this before in person or on a contract "

So right now I am not sending anymore items.  Not sure what to think…. :(

Mark

I sent two items to him Saturday. I think they (yours as well) are good. Jerry keeps getting older and I expect a bit of variation.

Did you pay for an opinion or did he just give you one?

I went ahead and paid for his opinion.  That is what he does for a living and understand that is his bread and butter.

I have asked him to clarify a little.  Waiting on a response.  Hopefully he will chime in on here.

I just hate PAYING for a signature from a celebrity and then getting one that is able to get authenticated.  Not sure what to do at this point - on the fence with regards to sending more items.  It would actually DE-value the items is there was a fake signature on there…..

One never knows throught the mail, but if you pay for it, why would someone else sign the item?  JLL is a fragile guy now.  To know for sure, one would have to see a very recent in-person signature.  The one I got a few yrs ago in the mail looks close to yours except for the L in the last name.   Again, I told his assistant please do not make me send this picture if JLL will not sign it.  She assured me 100%, but as I mentioned it was the other PO Box that was earlier posted.  Very confusing.

Agreed - very confusing.  Why would the other box come back with a signature that is almost identical to the one you got Steve.  I am thinking about emailing someone on his website - but it says its ONLY for booking.

Mark

His answer was non-committal and did not say it was not authentic. I wonder if he has recent exemplars. I'm sure he does but it would be difficult to keep updated files on so many artists. Your sig does have an issue with the second L and that might make people cautious about the authenticity.

I will post mine when they get back and see if I get a better example.

Regarding the PO Box numbers, responses were received from multiple #s. I'm sure he gets a decent amount of mail and is the most famous person in Nesbit. The post office is probably willingly working with him on his mail.

True… which one did you use??

I used 394 on the one I just sent but used a different one in the past. I figured the 394 was the most recent success so I used it.

He did a signing in NYC for his last CD in 2010 called Mean Old Man.  He signed the black & white insert fold-out mini poster that day.  if you can find one of those, maybe and compare it?  I also think the 2 POs are probably because of the amount of mail.  They probablay get stuffed quite often.  But the items do comes back quickly which also raises another red flag.  Who knows.
