Steve asked me to start a new thread since some were having a lot of issues with regards to whether or not the through the mail autographs of Jerry Lee Lewis are real or not.  I will post some examples of what we have been getting recently and some know in person examples.   These TTM signatures are not cheap.  You have to pay $50 for them to his box office box.  The question is are they real or not.  Roger has said that he has never seen Mr. Lewis sign this way and it looks to perfect - like a woman's signature.

Please post your thoughts here and examples.

thanks

She asked me to use Box 384 Nesbit Ms 38651

Thanks Chad.  I do see a small line now that you pointed it out.  At this point, do members here feel that we would really get secretarials if we send in 100.00?  I cant believe JLL would not sign them at that cost.  My 'Bless You' signed LP seems to still be unique.  Id love to see another one of those.  Anyway, I may be ready to send in a SUN item.

I hear you on sending in the Sun item.  I am waiting on Roger to chime in first..

Probably why they raised it to 100.00

I agree Steve. I really think that Roger hit the nail on the head. Everyone knows Roger is the man for this type of music authentication, and I imagine Roger has an extensive JLL database to compare with. Roger made the statement that JLL was not signing the TTM stuff. If indeed he was signing all of his mail, i imagine that could be a damaging statement the Lewis family would at least make a fuss over. And that doesnt seem to have happened. And we all know that Roger is very careful with statements like that, and i highly doubt he would ever make such a statement unless he was rock solid sure on them. It also is probably a good thing to realize that Roger probably has many connections in the entertainment world/ collecting world, that know alot about the signing situations of many of these classic stars.

The price suddenly going up to me is a huge red flag of suspicion. I dont knwo JLL's signature at all, but this thread has been super interesting. Hopefully all the new signatures will indeed by authentic from this point on. This certainly wouldnt be the first time (if the signatures really arent authentic) that a very well known celebrity was charging for signatures that they didnt really sign.

In the original the post on this subject (the JLL and Chuck Berry discussion) Roger stated the following--

The Jerry Lee photos from from that address are authentic as far as the ones I have seen,...

Originally, he thought the ttm's were good and then he viewed some of the other examples (some of the recent ttms) and believed they were no good, written too clean and wasn't keen on the inscriptions. I hope that is a fair assessment of his position. I think with all of the updates over the last week or so he may solidify his position.

Regarding the price increase, I think it is simply a supply and demand issue. Judith told me they get hundreds of requests and it is a lot of work. She didn't tell me this but I think this is their way to slow down the work and earn the same amount.

Having communicated with them a little bit I have become less skeptical.

Finally, I read online (take it for what it is) his net worth is $15 million dollars so I don't think his autograph signings are his only income. He still tours and his last album hit #30 a couple years ago.

Thanks to all for their input.

If members with JLLs send me large, clear images of them, I'll put them together on one big sheet so everyone can compare them side-by-side. Either PM them to me here or email them to editor@autographmagazine.com.

thanks Steve.. sending right now!

These are about the best images I can get with my phone. I hope they suffice.

Photos from my 2011 ttm and my 2 from earlier in April. I posted earlier in the thread but hope these are clearer.

Thanks for all the emails with images. I'll put the comparison sheet, or sheets together around midday tomorrow. And if you want some of the autographs rearranged afterwards, I'll be happy to do whatever anyone needs.

Nite

Thanks Steve!  Looking forward to seeing it.  I would love to hear your opinion on the situation as well.
