STUDY: Jerry Lee Lewis - TTM real or not real
Steve asked me to start a new thread since some were having a lot of issues with regards to whether or not the through the mail autographs of Jerry Lee Lewis are real or not. I will post some examples of what we have been getting recently and some know in person examples. These TTM signatures are not cheap. You have to pay $50 for them to his box office box. The question is are they real or not. Roger has said that he has never seen Mr. Lewis sign this way and it looks to perfect - like a woman's signature.

I think it's highly unlikely JLL signed the whole autograph. For one, the slant of the personalization and actual autograph are different on the LP. More importantly, the marker did not suddenly dry up to that extent between someone signing the personalization and the actual autograph. I don't think you have to be an expert to come to that conclusion.

The "To Dave" and the signature are at approximately the same angle. Are you saying the "Sincerely" is in a different hand because it is at a different angle?

Yeah, "To Dave" is heavily slanted then "Sincerely" is basically straight across and then JLL is slanted again. Again, beyond that, the marker is flowing heavily on "Sincerely" and then it dries up a lot for JLL. Makes no sense except, of course, if two different people signed it.

Compare "Sincerely" to "To Dave." Sincerely is signed spontaneously and flows naturally, and the heights of the small letters all vary. The small letters in "Dave" are all of uniform height, the 'e' is quite different than the one in Sincerely, and both words look rigidly written.
They just don't look signed by the same person to me.

I found a photo signed to "Danny”. While it’s a small pic from an old eBay auction, the “D” appears to have the same formation, including the line extending out to the right. The “A”, “V” and “E” from the LP appear consistent with other inscriptions I’ve seen, including the extension of the last letter. The “To” portion looks spot on to me.

Is the item you are questioning the one you sent ttm in April of 2012? Did you pay for that one?
I received a stamped signature at one point and believe I pitched it. It looks like Ballroom nailed it as a stamped example.

Yes, that is the one, and yes I did pay for it. Funny, I've had it for a couple of years and never realized it was a stamp. I've gotten stamps back before too. Can't believe I missed that!

I'm having a hard time following this part of the conversation. Mark, you paid for an autograph from JLL and got a stamped signature in return? I looked for it in the replies here but couldn't find it. Just Ballroom's pic.

It is on page 6, third post.
I recall at one point JLL was offering a stamped signature for one price and a hand signed signature for a higher price. I don't recall if that discuss was on this site or another. I remember the people in the discussion wondering who in the heck would actually pay for a stamped sig.
