I have been collecting Star Wars autographs since 1998.  Not all of my signatures are on Star Wars memorabilia.  For example, when I met Warwick Davis at a comic convention in New York City, I had him sign a Willow photograph.  I also have publicity photos of Sir Alec Guinness and Christopher Lee from the 1970s, and a Natalie Portman signed The Diary of Anne Frank theater poster from her performance on Broadway back in 1998.  My current wish list includes Peter Cushing, Terence Stamp and John Williams.  I am interested in knowing about the collections and wish lists of other members.

My concern is the fact that it isn't Harrison Ford's autograph. The level of wrong only starts with the H & F then carries on to the A,R,R,I,S,O,N then jumps to the O,R, and, D.

Letters are all formed wrong, all the wrong height, and all turn the wrong way as they end. H leans right , F leans left .....no one signs that way.

He was better off with the "cousin got them" story, saying that was in-person is just wrong on so many levels.

I know speaking in absolutes can get me in trouble, but that should tell you how confident I am about this.

I do not understand why some collectors feel the need to lie about their autograph collection.  How is that for speaking in absolutes?

No one understands it, one of the mysteries of the universe.

Some people will lie about anything to make themselves look better. Their salary, who they have dated, their education, etc., etc. Why not their collections?

Pete, you and I appear to be in agreement regarding the authenticity of most of the autographs that you have questioned.

I am still not confident about the Alec Guinness autograph that Tim Male was inquiring about.  I have already stated my reasons in my reply to him.  I would definitely not feel comfortable stating that it is one hundred percent authentic.

I am in agreement that Mark Shull's Frank Oz autograph is a concern.  There is one thing in particular that I am concerned about.  I am also in agreement that the Harrison Ford autographs that he was inquiring about are concerns as well.  I stated as much in my original replies to his inquiries.

I am in agreement that the Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones autograph that Bradford was inquiring about is a concern.  I stated as much in my original reply to his inquiry.  I am also in agreement that the James Earl Jones/Carrie Fisher dual signed photo is a concern.  I stated as much in my original reply to his inquiry as well.

As far as Daniel Calderano's collection is concerned, I am in agreement that his Shelagh Fraser autograph, Peter Diamond autograph, Don Henderson autograph, George Lucas autographed Star Wars album, Sebastian Shaw autograph and Declan Mulholland autograph are all concerns.  I can't believe that anyone would actually forge the autographs of some of the secondary players mentioned, but there are many things about Daniel's pieces that concern me.  You and I are definitely in agreement, and I want to thank you for bringing this to our attention.  I had no idea.

That leaves the George Lucas autographed Death Star photo and the Harrison Ford autographs that his cousin acquired for him.  I am simply not as concerned about the autographed Death Star photo as I am concerned about the autographed Star Wars album.  I am also not as concerned about the Harrison Ford autographs as you seem to be.  His autograph is extremely erratic and I do not see anything to specifically rule them out.

Thank you so much for being a part of this discussion.  It is great to have a Jedi Master among us.  Also, I would love to continue this discussion privately so that we are able to discuss specifics that I am sure you agree would be unwise to discuss on a public forum that is devoted to autograph collecting.  After all, the forgers are always looking for advice.  Thanks again.

The secondary players who passed away prior to the major surge in SW autograph collecting always command a premium. Shelagh only did one or two shows in the UK before passing, Don Henderson did one show in the UK and one here in the states, Peter Diamond did some shows in the UK and only C2 here before he passed and being at C2 and spending hours with him, I can tell you not many people got his autograph...they were busy getting Carrie and Kenny and Dave and Peter.

The push into collectring SW graphs began in 1997 with the special editions and spiked into a frenzy by 2002. The Denver Celebration didn't even have an Autograph program in 1999, that should give you an idea of how the majority of SW fans just weren't into it at that point.

Many of us started collecting SW stuff at an early age and I think we were trained to try and get it all... all the cards, all the comics, all the figures. Wanting every autograph is just a natural progression from those collections.

When you have a group of actors that never did a show here in the states, and another group that had passed before the start of this hobby.....it leaves such a limited supply to meet the demand.....those secondary players can be far more valuable than Hamill, Fisher or even Ford.

Very interesting Pete.  It makes a lot of sense.

What are the top 5 Star Wars signatures in value? Can you do a list with number one being most valuable along with an approximate value as if were an autographed photo? Thanks

That is far more complicated than you can imagine. Are we talking about just actors? credited actors? Main stars? crew?

The list would be different for Star Wars items signed by the celeb, like a photo compared to a slip of paper.

Anyone associated with Star Wars, (ie actors, composer, comics, etc). Primarily those with pop culture significance including those who have passed on and you can't get anymore. To me value is not only based on popularity but difficulty to acquire. Let's however limit it to only major players in the saga and not the hard to get nobody names that won't get the attention of most collectors out there. Hope this helps.

My list of five autographs would include Peter Cushing, Harrison Ford, Alec Guinness, George Lucas, Natalie Portman and/or John Williams.  I listed them in alphabetical order by their last names.  I also listed six names because I am having difficulty narrowing it down to five.

Haha. That's cool. Can you attach a monetary value to them as though they were on an 8x10 photo?
