Ok, so I'm wondering, is this Babe Ruth signed, personalized baseball legit? Or is it a forgery? It is probably the boldest Babe signed baseball I have ever seen. What do you guys think? If it's real, what kind of writing instrument produced this?

It looks to be signed in blue paint

Authentic IMO. Signed with blue fountain pen. Looks to have a light coat of shellack which preserved it.

Typically shellac turns yellow. This ball is white and looks like it was signed yesterday.

I was thinking the same thing. Shellac would have yellowed or turned brown by now

I have seen many lightly coated balls that did not yellow.

My opinion is based on the inscription and autograph which look spot on.

I believe it would pass JSA or PSA/DNA and would not doubt that it already has an LOA from one or both of them.

James, how did you find this item? Are there any legitimate LOAs with it?

James, never mind.

I just found it listed on Ebay and it has a full LOA from PSA/DNA.

Sorry I did not reply sooner. I just now saw your question regarding LOAs. I was going to reply that it was PSA/DNA if anyone asked. I just wanted to get people's opinions without the influence of who may have authenticated it, since my initial thinking was that PSA may have made a mistake. However, Randy, I defer to you on this. I do think the inscription and autograph are spot on. It just seemed too bright and bold, but now I think you and PSA are right on this. This is really one of a kind in the since that I don't think we could ever see any Ruth bolder than this.

It would be hard to find a bolder example.

$10K is probably a reasonable price especially if your first name is "Ray."

Yes, I think you're right. I wasn't sure at first, because of how bold it is. But a light shellack and good storage looks to have done the trick.

Is it possible JSA passed this Ruth being sold by seller selsa99?

Definitely authenticated it as I checked their web site and it is posted.

You have to keep in mind that Ruth's autograph in 1923 was much different than those signed late in his career or after.

Usually he put quotes around "Babe" early in his career. Plus, I've never seen an "h" like that in Ruth
