Just got a Gotham poster off ebay cast signed. Did a quick opinion through PSA and GA

Came back from PSA likely not genuine and from GA likely genuine. Compared signatures to known PSA certified ones and they look legit to me.

Soon as I get this in I would like to send out to get authenticated. Who do you recommend?

JSA, PSA or GA. Or any others?

Here is a list of the autographs

 1. Ben McKenzie……James Gordon

 2 Donal Logue……Harvey Bullock

 3.  David Mazouz……Bruce Wayne (AKA Batman)

 4.  Sean Pertwee……Alfred Pennyworth

 5.  Robin Lord Taylor……Oswald Cobblepot (AKA The Penguin)

 6.  Camren Bicondova……Selina Kyle (AKA Catwoman)

 7.  Cory Michael Smith……Edward Nygma (AKA The Riddler)

 8.  Nicholas D'Agosto……Harvey Dent (AKA Two Face)

 9.  Jada Pinkett Smith……Fish Mooney

10.  John Doman……Carmine Falcone

11.  Erin Richards……Barbara Kean

12.  Zabryna Guevara……Sarah Essen

13.  Victoria Cartagena……Renee Montoya

14.  Andrew Stewart-Jones……Crispus Allen

15.  Danny Cannon……Producer, Director, Writer

16.  Bruno Heller……Producer, Writer

17.  John Stephens……Producer, Writer

Thanks for your insight.

Jason

By the wording in the description I would guess there was only one poster. The poster originally posted is much too clean, the signatures are very stiff, and if a poster were to come directly from the studio for a raffle prize or charity, it would be very unlikely to have the producers and the entire supporting cast, especially in perfect condition. It would have to sit around for weeks to get all of those signatures. It's not like the full supporting cast, main cast, directors and producers all show up every Monday.

Here they are side-by-side. I enlarged the one in the store a bit for visibility:

Got an email back. Looks like PSA was wrong and GA was right.

Yes! 8 lucky fans met 2 cast members and won that poster signed by the entire Gotham cast. It is legit.
Here is the article with photos:

Happy for ya, but a GA sticker on that will guarantee that everyone thinks it is fake. Choose wisely!

What do you have against GA just curious? I am not even sure if PSA looked at this item and I have heard negative things about them on here as well.

GA or GAI has hired a number of people without any background in the autographs that they "authenticate."  After years of inperson collecting as well as having access to images from a number of the best inperson autograph hunters for the past decade.....you start to see patterns in everyone's autograph. A quick search of ebay for GA "authentic" items will return hundreds if not thousands of forgeries. They do sticker everything and anything, most seasoned collectors stay far away from their material.

It is true that the occasional real piece gets sent to them and because they sticker everything.....real items do exist with GA certs, but for every real piece there are likely 100 bad ones.

PSA is not perfect but the numbers reverse there compared to their competition .....you will find maybe one bad item out of 100 good ones with PSA stickers . They are the best this industry has for celebrity authenticating and the majority of people spending real money in this hobby will buy a PSA piece and skip the GA piece 99% of the time.

Pete,

Do you think PSA looked at this or just took the money straight to the bank? I feel PSA does that a lot. Especially from reading other posts on here. Makes me not want to trust them. How do you feel about autograph world?

In the grand reality of things there are not many autographs on that poster that PSA would even have an exemplar file on. They may have had to answer it not likely authentic based on the poster itself being signed in the same ink. My first thoughts were the same ....likelihood of it being real without the history behind it was  quite slim.

Autograph World LLC is quite possibly the best in the business. For celebrity autographs at a reasonable price for authentic material, I don't know of anyone better. I consider both JD and Bob friends.

Pete,

I used PSA/DNA certified signatures on ebay to compare to this before even requesting their opinion so I doubt that they do not have examples. And PSA failed a stamped autograph world signed photo I sent in to them. I contacted Bob Jones and he confirmed it was indeed genuine. I also compared this to PSA certified ones and found them to be just alike. This makes it look like  PSA is blocking competition by not certifying their items. I do not hold them in high regard and I am a bit leery of them now especially after their quick opinion. Maybe they have a secretary look at their quick opinions.

Like any company on the planet, PSA is a business. They have their staff traveling around the USA every week to this show or that. I am sure that there are good people working there, but there is no way to know who is looking at the quick opinion requests, just as there is no way to know who sees what submission on a given day.

If I chose to send the world's best Harrison Ford signed Star Wars 8x10 to them to sticker and authenticatem .....it arrives on the day that Steve Grad is filming Pawn Stars? Who in that office will look at it? Will the Mickey Mantle expert be handed the Harrison Ford piece to sticker?  None of us know who sees the item, none of us knows the inner workings of this corporation.

These are just some of the problems in this hobby....welcome to our world.

You may not like their findings, and something about any autograph can stand out to any authenticator as questionable, that is the idea behind an opinion.

I can tell you this much, even if you hate PSA, they are the better choice if you feel you must have a sticker on that Gotham poster.

Having GA place their mark on it, you might as well rip it in half.

Lastly, I don't think that PSA or Autograph World look at each other as competitors, one authenticate while the other sells autographs.

AW may not like PSA's findings on some items, and PSA may not like the fact that AW doesn't use them as authenticators, but I can't see either trying to harm the other.

It's just about opinions.

Pete,

Thanks for your replies. I do not hate anyone. Well maybe that fudge guy. JK. I am relatively new to this hobby and value all opinions. Just being careful is all. Thanks to everyone who has replied as well.

To each his own Jason.  You asked a question.  Members have answered it.  Send the autographed poster to GA if it pleases you.  I doubt very much that a secretary at PSA offered an opinion about it.
