STUDY: Jerry Lee Lewis - TTM real or not real

Steve asked me to start a new thread since some were having a lot of issues with regards to whether or not the through the mail autographs of Jerry Lee Lewis are real or not. I will post some examples of what we have been getting recently and some know in person examples. These TTM signatures are not cheap. You have to pay $50 for them to his box office box. The question is are they real or not. Roger has said that he has never seen Mr. Lewis sign this way and it looks to perfect - like a woman's signature.

Please post your thoughts here and examples.

We’ve seen a number of examples of authentic JLL signatures with an upstroke at the bottom of the “Y”, including ones that retrace the downstroke as you’ve described. JSA has authenticated JLL signatures containing “Y”s without a loop at the bottom, and both with and without an upstroke at the bottom. These are all valid characteristics of his authentic signature.

When someone has completely ruled out the possibility of something, would it not be of value to come to an agreement that it is in fact possible?

with regards to the signed 45, I would not use that as a reference to authenticate anything, the thick marker, or paint pen used makes it impossible to see the detail required to make a determination.

Reminds us again - how was that 45 obtained? TTM? I agree its a terrible example either way to determine authenticity due to the marker used.

I agree - its not the best example and the fact the the sharpie was thick did not help. BUT - it is an in person example. Mark Shull got it in person, I wanna say in the 90's. I will let him tell about it.

Didn't you just compare the book signatures to contract signatures from the 1960's?

You said:

All the book signatures look the same and written by the same hand. They do not match any know in person signature or contract signature. As all stated before.

I do agree that they are all in the same hand.

Read Roger’s statement that I posted a few pages back. He’s correct.

You and Terrier are condemning JLL for doing exactly what Roger stated should be done. He attempted to make the signatures appear as consistent as possible. I don’t even think he entirely succeeded. Under similar circumstances, Bob Dylan might have encountered the same difficulty.
