In terms of collectibility or popularity that is. I believe sometime back in the mid-to-late 80s TIME magazine declared that U2 may be the second-most popular band in music history after The Beatles.

I think this may still indeed be true when looking at the entire scope of popular music history. Their world influence cannot be denied. Now, of course, I think the Stones are right there. However, I don't think Bono will ever pass Mick as an icon, although Bono is hard to top as a humanitarian.

So who comes in second after The Beatles? There will be the Zeppelin fans. But their popular influence simply does not touch U2. It's not close.

Oh...but let's not forget One Direction. (LOL!!!)

They dont rank very high on my list. The band just arent gritty enough for me.
I can respect that, but believe or not, there are some who don't like the Beatles (I love them myself), but no one can deny the Beatles are No. 1.

As far as bands go, though, U2 is my No. 2.

Of course, I'm talking only about bands.
Beatles, b.boys, Hendrix, the list rolls on then way down the bottom u2.
Its personal taste.
I hate the song with or without you.
Id rather go to a Manson concert and listen to him scream his a##hole out.
I like Marilyn Manson. He's got some good songs.
It is personal taste, but it's also quantifiable and visible. Someone might not like Madonna, but no one can deny she is the most iconic female artist ever.

I'd say tina turner, bonnie raiit, aretha franklin, Diana ross are in same league as Madonna.

As great as they all may be, no one has sold more than Madonna.

if sales is the measure, they all are kicked by kate perry and taylor swift

Here are the Top 4 highest selling artists All-Time:

1) The Beatles

2) Elvis Presley

3) Michael Jackson

4) Madonna

I recently looked up best selling LP of the 20th Century.  Within the US only, is Eagles Greatest Hits 1.  Globally, Thriller.

As far as collecting goes, Ger sold one of the best U2 items Ive seen, there first record signed.

That was a gem!
