Thoughts on this Eagles guitar listed on eBay? Glenn Frey's passing...

In a haste because of Glenn Frey's passing, I purchased this Eagles-signed Takamine. Now I worry I might have a mistake without demanding COA documents alongside the purchase. Like any typical amateur, I am sincerely hoping to get this community's expert opinion on this item alongside how I should go about handling the situation.

Thank you for your time! Photos are still up at the link below:

Very nice, Rachel! The guys are right. That's one of the ones that the Eagles sold directly on their website for $2500 about 8 or 9 years ago. You'd have a hard time finding a more solid Eagles signed item. Congratulations!

Update: Seller sent the following...

"This guitar was purchased (by me) at a Horizon Preparatory School fundraiser in September 2003. The school still exists (www.horizonprep.org). At that time, Joe Walsh, the guitar player for the band, donated this instrument for the school auction. His daughter was a student there and my daughter was too. Mr. Walsh lived in Encinitas, a small community adjacent to Rancho Santa Fe where Horizon Prep is located. I purchased it anonymously along with a private lesson from Mr. Walsh. I will try and search for the gift receipt. It is 100% authentic signatures of the Eagles members."

Any thoughts on how I should go about obtaining COA(s)?

I would give up collecting if that thing was no good! If you are set on getting it "certed" (I wouldn't bother). Your not going to send it out! You could go to a sports/entertainment autograph/card show that has PSA or JSA physically at the show "authenticating" on the spot and get a sticker and letter with it. I would put the sticker on the back. I wouldn't bother with any other company (if at all)!

Great story! The ones the Eagles sold on their website were also Takamine and look to me to be the same model. I agree with Ian. I wouldn't bother with authentication, but if you want it, JSA (James Spence Authentication) is in New Jersey. I'm not sure of the price, but it's probably $100+.

You can also get an online opinion for $15 from Roger Epperson, the leading modern music expert by sending images to roger@rogerepperson.com.

These are as good as they get, though. At least in my opinion. I don't know what you paid, but you did good, Rachel. Far too often we can't say that.

I figure the guys in the band all probably kept a few themselves. I consider them Americas greatest "band" and yeah I know about the Doors,Dead,Beachboys,Chicago etc. But individually and collectively give me The Eagles! Good investment!

Thank you guys for being so warm and reassuring to a newbie like me. I definitely took a chance with this purchase and will look into the Roger Epperson authentication. I am simply relieved. Thank you again!

You're more then welcome, Rachel. But next time....ask first!
