Back in the day, I saw the Prince theatrical opus "Purple Rain" three times in the theaters, but I had not seen the movie in about 32 years before paying to download it last night.
But I still didn't catch it until I once again watched the music video of my favorite Prince song "When Doves Cry". In the music video, there is a scene from the movie "Purple Rain" where Prince drives his motorcycle through an underpass. As he comes out of the underpass, you can see graffiti on the walls. On the left, you can see the word "Love" spray painted on one wall, and then to the right, on the opposite wall, you can see the word "God" spray painted.
Of course, we've seen now that the phrase "Love God" was probably Prince's most well-known and favorite inscription he wrote with autographs. He obviously purposely had those words spray painted on two sides of that underpass for the movie.
I had never ever noticed that before or paid attention to it. When I realized it my reaction was OMG! I thought that was pretty cool. And obviously I think it was something Prince felt strongly about.
I just thought I'd pass my revelation along to other Prince fans who may never have noticed this. Maybe you did, but I never had.
There's a pic below.
