Iconic Auctions and Press Pass Collectibles - What's going on?

I came across this Alec Guinness signed photo at the end of June, being sold by Press Pass Collectibles on eBay:

Many know Press Pass has a reputation for flipping stuff on eBay for crazy prices. They had it listed for $1499 Buy it Now, which is very high for this particular piece. I added it to my watch list and left it alone.

Fast forward to last week when I was looking through Iconic's monthly auction, I noticed the same photo in their auction:

I placed a bid around $400, and was outbid a few days later. Final price was $943.25 including buyers premium. 

So fast forward again to this week, and the same photo has been relisted by Press Pass on eBay for $1499 with the same listing and item number as before:

I thought that was pretty sketchy, so I did some digging. If you take a look at the Press Pass website, under their contact information here:

You will notice the address is the same as Iconic Auctions:

http://www.iconicauctions.com/contactus.aspx

So what do you think is going on? It seems to me that they suspended the eBay listing, put it through Iconic and shill bid up to their minimum. Apparently they weren't willing to let it go for $754 ($943 with buyers premium), so they simply relisted it on ebay for $1499 just like it was before.

I noticed this because I actively track rare Star Wars autographs, but who knows how many items they could be doing this with. Let me know your thoughts.

This has been an ongoing thing with them since Iconic started. Not just Star Wars items, but items across every field of autograph collecting. If they can't get what they want for it, they spike the last bid and keep it in-house for ebay listing or relisting in a later auction.

Lots of bad info out there thanks to them, if you are tracking prices.

Agreed.. a lot of people point to their auctions as a price guide when it's likely all BS. It's even worse if they are using these shill auctions to attract consignors.

Yup totally agree. Here is an item I was tracking on eBay, which surfaced to Iconic, then back to eBay - after it was 'sold' at auction. What a joke. Is there someone on this forum from Iconic who can fill us in on this bad business practice?

The director from iconic is a member here.
On the jim morrison signature that was recently at iconic, was on ebay at autograph for sale straight after.
It doesnt give any of these dealers a great name. Its a waste of time bidding.

It seems strange to see items at ICONIC AUCTIONS "sell" for ridiculous prices -- and the next day they go back onto to several eBay sites (Press Pass Collecibles, Autographs99, etc). 

Either the sellers are suffering from insane greed  -- or those inflated prices are the result of shill bidding. 

Either way, something is rotten in the state of Arizona.

Really interesting (and sad...and maybe illegal?) information here. So far the "Prince For You" signed LP that was in the latest Iconic auction has not resurfaced on eBay. Maybe that sale at Iconic for $2829 was actually legit? I suppose occasionally it does happen.

Presspass I've seen alot of bad items from them. Right now I just looked and I found these 2 items autographed by "Lita Ford" My god these are bad, first of all 2 of her graphs never look really the same. There's many red flags I see right off the bat. These 2 look almost identical to each other and the "L" is just horrible on these, slowly drawn, same with the "T" and "A". Also the "F" is not connected with the "O" is a red flag too. It does happen but it's very rare to see nowadays. 

Top 2 are from Press Pass, the Bottom 5 are authentic samples.

This is all the crap, unethical business practices that I have been talking about on this site for a couple of years now. At first, some members got on my case when I mentioned that this was going on with Keith Richards signed albums. There isn't any coincidence here. I mentioned that they have the same address, and was told no I was wrong. Of all the people here, I am the only one who has known this clown for over 30 years. Stay away from both companies. They are like Vegas, the house isn't going to lose!
