I am new to the community but am already loving it here. Had a lot of great advice already. This is an autograph I've had for years. It is probably my most treasured possession even though the ink is all smudged and it's personalized to Janet and Paul. Those flaws and the fact that it is on the rear of the sleeve all convinced me pretty throughly that it was legit along with my own (very amateur) investigation which showed this handwriting to be identical to other examples of his I found. Now that I'm on here though I thought I’d ask. Found it in a thrift store in Townes' hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. No idea as to the true value. It has a ton of flaws that I mentioned so it's definitely not a "perfect" autograph but that man is one of my all time favorite songwriters that ever lived and it's value to me is greater than what it would probably be at auction (authenticated). I'd love to hear your thoughts though I'll be crushed and kind of shocked if it seems forged. Again, the personalization, placement, smooth flowing signature and pen choice all lead me to believe that it is real. Thanks!!

Those things have little to nothing to do with authenticity. They infer at best, and only sometimes. The signature appears fine, but the condition is all but terminal. This is ball point or other on a highly glossy surface. It is very good you can enjoy it for what it is as it is. We should be a little more like this.

Plenty sold at auction is not real, many things authenticated are not genuine.
