Awhile back I purchased a Rolling Stones newspaper. It was OKed by Roger Epperson before I purchased it. I didn't see, nor can I now see, there was any problems with it. I matted the paper and eventually offered it for sale on eBay where it was pulled by them.

I have since found out that this item sold on eBay in the past without a problem.

Yesterday, I received information from a member on this site who noticed this in a previous discussion and was informed by them that this is a known forgery style.

To also be fair, I have seen an email where Roger Epperson again(today) responded this set of signatures looks fine. Also, I have in my possession a ticket to the event on the same date as the newspaper, attendance wristbands for the event, and photo of the event site and inside during the concert.

I simply would appreciate to figure out if these signatures are, indeed, genuine or do they appear suspect. I both love and dislike a challenge and this is one to me. Appreciate any and all thoughtful responses.

Thank-you.

Is the member who sold it to you unwilling to take it back?

Not unless Roger changes his mind. No refund. No exchange.

that's bs.  He/she should be willing to take it back under any circumstances. Most reputable dealers would do that.  What if Beckett rejected it?

Agreed. Especially when you haven't even outted his name. The "stress" arguement as well doesn't hold water either, since you have been respectful about this.

No offense to Roger, as I do have respect for him, but he isn't king of the autograph gods either...Neither is Steve Grad. Lets just be clear, just because an authenticator says "looks fine", it doesn't automatically make it real. So the basis of the return shouldn't be predicated on one man's opinion.

If you truly believe this is fake, as does the community, this member should accept a return. He can get Roger's coa and shell it off on someone (sadly) elsewhere. Hopefully people see this discussion and hopefully that member understands the right thing to do.

I make a mistake... See my new discussion for rolling stones 2012...

Hi there,

Hopefully I can add to this and other threads on the Rolling Stones...

I have been a Rolling Stones collector since 1995.  On moving to London in 1999 I became an autograph collector.  In two golden years 2000 and 2001 while Mick, Charlie and Ronnie were all living much of their lives in London I managed to get literally 100's of Stones autographs. Although they were heavily biased to Ronnie scored at least 80 Charlie and 30 Jagger in this period.  The first time I managed to get Keith the day after his birthday he did 6 for me!  It's a great story but Ronnie helped me and literally acted as my assistant passing the items to Keith and telling him where to sign.

Ronnie used to tell me where he would be and I would see him a couple of times a week.  One day he invited me to join him for dinner and the rest is history.  I have been to over 150 shows in 27 countries and most of the private ones too.  I notice there is a link to an article written by my friend about the Private show in Paris, I was there with him.  In fact this newspaper has another friends email address on it!  She was there in Paris too and the night of the 6 Keith's (and many others).

My Stones collection is respectable, I own the first contract Brian signed, the first Acetate they ever recorded, the earliest known gig poster etc... I have 80 items on loan to their global touring exhibition, am credited in about 10 of their releases, numerous books etc...  I own over 200 original Ronnie paintings and drawings (I also have about 100 prints).  I was the executive producer of a limited Live album of Ronnie's and he signed all 500 copies.  Let's just say I have seen a lot of his autographs.

I would like to know more about the source of this set in question.  It's far from the worst set I have seen.  The Black & Blue is awful, I almost stopped at the Bill, that's really poor.  The newspaper is harder, the Ronnie is actually ok, on its own I could probably pass it.  I don't like the Charlie done in two sections and he usually adds the date.  Keith is weak and the Jagger umm... maybe but it depends on how relaxed the situation etc... Where was it supposed to be done, I was there at the gig in the front row (I have had a tour laminate since 2007).  One thing I would say is that despite my level of access which is good I have never ever got all four on one day on one item, let alone on multiple items.

Anyway, thanks for accepting me to the forum, I hope I can help with some Stones autographs.

Impressive story Matt and your inputs are appreciated

I will post some 100% got myself in front of me (not passed to someone to get) Stones autographs to serve as a resource when I get a moment.

That would be terrific, thanks Matt.
