Hi there

At the bottom of the forum page you will see a message "Follow – Email me about new discussions in this category"  click on it.  It should then convert to "Stop Following" (so you can unfollow anytime).

I subscribe to the forums of interest (in this case, Music-Direct Autograph Sales) that way I receive notification of any new discussions.

Check out the 'drop down' menus at the top (ie "Hub") and you can subscribe to the discussions that are of interest.  Forum Central is a good starting point to see the list of main forums. This site is a wealth of knowledge and many folks give a lot of their time. 
Im also no expert so someone else might be better placed to guide you.
