Andy Kaufman signed B/W Taxi Photo

I was hoping the group might help me in authenticating this Andy Kaufman signed photo. I purchased it about 25 years ago from R&R Auctions. I cannot find the COA presently, it only has the information they printed out on the sleeve it’s housed in. I had a quick opinion done by Beckett and it came back Unlikely to pass full authentication. I’ve compared it to know examples and it compares quite well all around. In any case I thought I would get opinions from the group members, as I’ve always been a big fan of Kaufman. Thanks in advance. The

That photo is not good enough to render an opinion IMO. 25 years is a long time for an LOA.

Here are some from PSA - I imagine you have seen them.

How many exemplars do you have, can you post them and their sources? There are none at RR at all.

I would rather get an opinion from a knowledgeable Kauffman collector in here than a QO anyday.

I was looking at two of the examples that you brought up, I also sent another photo that I was using as an exemplar and it matches quite nicely to the autograph I have. I tried to take two additional close ups of the Kaufman signature. But that black background keeps darkening the appearance of the signature. Thanks for your helpfulness.

Do we know the last image you posted, "In God We Trust," is authentic? Is the price being asked for the OP in line with other sold authentic examples? Kaufman is not in my wheelhouse I am sorry to say. In your last photos of the item in question, is the "f" "drawn" or is that some digital artifact making it seem hesitant on the top up and down strokes?

The seller is asking $1200.00 for that photo and offers a PSA/DNA full letter for an added charge. I appreciate your helpfulness in trying to render any conclusion on the piece. I personally believe the piece I have has a reasonable chance of being authentic, however, I won’t jump the gun and say for sure. I’d like to get other opinions from the autograph collecting community.

You are most welcome. You will know more about the proper value then I but it is a valuable metric in context. I agree with what you say on both counts. I too would want more considered opinions. PSA is great but they still have secretarials in their Facts pages for many artists. Does this seller offer a return period?
