Are there any David Letterman collectors out there?

I may eventually have to pick up a Letterman signed piece, since he's my favorite talk show host ever.

As many may know, tonight is Dave's final show. So here's a salute to David Letterman, the greatest talk show host ever!! IMHO.

Agree with all.  Grew up with Dave.  He reminded me of Carson in one particular way.  When he was delivering jokes, sometimes even he thought they were so funny he'd cracked up delivering his own lines.  Carson used to do that, and there's no way you can keep from just laughing your @#$ off when you see that.

Carson was also incredible. I know Dave idolized him, and the affection was mutual. As many know, Dave was Johnny Carson's hand-picked successor for the Tonight Show, yet NBC chose Leno. I loved how Carson, in order to show his support for Dave, hand-delivered Dave the Top Ten list on one of Dave's episodes.
That was one of my favorite things also. See them start laughing when they were telling a joke or story made me laugh even more. Priceless!
Steve, I'm already having Letterman withdrawal! I'm going to miss him big time. While I really like Stephen Colbert and the brilliant character he portrayed, he's still not Dave! I also like Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, but their shows are nowhere near as brilliant as Dave's. Sometimes, the word icon can be used too loosely, but to me Dave is an icon of entertainment.

I met Dave backstage at the NBC studios..he posed for several photos with me.. As to his autograph..he purposely signs OVER HIS FACE..any photo NOT signed over his face is probably not real. I have ONE that he signed at the bottom because I said.. "Look It's a photo of you AND Cher.. Please dont sign over the face" and he said "Yeah OK yo ugot me on that one" LOL

That's a cool story. Dave sounds like a pretty nice guy in real life. Honestly, if there was one and only one celebrity that I could meet, Dave might just be the one. In my opinion, he's a national treasure.

He was very reclusive for years..I saw a few people got photos with him in moree recent years..He is not going ot be signing up 10 photos though..probably one .better on the photo than the autograph they said.. I doubt he will be out and about much now.. I think he sees the business is now for the JIMMYS so to speak.. younger hosts with trendy followers. Notice how certain BIG names refused to go on Letterman in his last weeks... did you see Springsteen, Paul McCarntey, U-2/Bono or even Taylor Swift (who does every tv show in America..but didnt bother to come on to say Bye to Dave).ALl those people go on Fallon.. so NBC didnt want them on Letterman. Rather appalling.  You might say "what about Billy Joel or Elton John". Billy Joel doesnt like Letterman..hasnt been on in 30 years ?. Elton has cut back all his TV appearances.. has not been on anything in quite a while.  They were not regulars... but inexcusable on some of the other names not to offer a Goodbye appearance. There is a long list of those who refused surfacing...Deniro said NO. as well.

When I locate one of the candids of Dave and myself I will email it to you..or post..that was taken back before digital..so I need ot dig up the 4x6 and scan it..I have one very rare pic .I am standing between Letterman and LARRY BUDD MELMAN! Dave thought was very funny "hey Larry--get over here.I dont want to take another solo shot--stand here? WHERE> HERE..do you know how to STAND Larry?

Thanks, David. Let me know when you find the candids. I'll send you a friend request.

I have a few David Letterman signed photos from over the years for sale on my site.  I also have a few of the seat backs from the audience for sale as well.  Have the appropriate documentation/provenance as well.

Thanks for the info. I'll take a look.
