Hello everybody,

this is Fabrizio from Milano, Italy, 45 years old.

I am new to this site. I am not an avid autographs collectors, but from time to time I try to collect personally some autographs from living musicians I appreciate and meet after concerts, or buy special items from official artists' websites which are surely official and true.

I am writing here to ask your expert and kind help because of this: I bought on the web a declared super rare and quite expensive and original '71 copy of the Allman Brothers Band Live at Fillmore East album, with all six original five members signatures on it.

I was quite light and superficial and didn't check in advance the pictures and the signatures, yes I was stupid I know...

I hope there's some expert Allmans collector among you to judge the attached pictures, one for Duane's signature, the other for Gregg's one

what really is upsetting me is that both are clearly missing a L!!!! someone could say Duane'sone has a big A that could seem to incorporate a L, but to me this is just a big A. and for Gregg's one, you can clealry see just ONE L, and it's like a single line, not the usual circular one (very close to Duan'e one) he did for all his life.

Please let me know your opinions, if someone can help me, thanks in advance for you kind collaboration

Fabrizio

Hi Fabrizio,

You're right, "Allman" is missing an "L" on both of your autographs posted. The autographs are far off in any case, in my opinion.

Here's Duane Allman's signature on a check, from Roger Epperson's Allman Brothers Band study:

Where did you buy it, and when? And how did you pay for it? Perhaps you can still get your money back.

I just read that you purchases it from James Falkenstern on iOffer. His business is Pop Culture Signatures.

You'll find a lot of very rare autographed items at very low prices there. That's always a warning sign.

ok thanks so much for these considerations.

greg looks off to me and i did him alot in person

i have a real duane just dont know were it is.

try reaching out to a guy called kirk west for his oppinon u can google him

thanks!

Neither of these signatures are good.

thanks so much for your thoughts.

Che brutta roba che hai Fabrizio... Scusa se sono sincero... Stai attento che il 99 di venditori di autografi vende merda. Chiedi a me se hai bisogno... Ciao!

This discussion was from a year ago and Fabrizio has learned a lot since then.

I think it's beneficial for members to post even obvious forgeries like these. Even tho we can tell they're fake in a second, most fans and newer collectors can't. Posting the autographs helps educate them.

I actually own as real duane signed contract and it took going thru stacks of them with the band to figure out what was really signed by duane as he didn't sign much. most stuff was signed on behalf of him
