Hi everybody,

I bought these 2 Belgium singles of the Beatles somewhere near the Ardennes some time ago. They are Belgium only picture covers and have signatures of Ringo Starr on them. Well at least that's what it looks like because there are multiple on there. Some with pen, some with marker. The beatles did a tour in Germany, Essen the 25th of june 1966, 100 Km from the place where I found them. I don't have any expectations, just like to know if they are ligit. Many thanks upfront!

They aren’t legit, unfortunately. That’s a very odd ending to each signature.

Thanks for your reply.

I checked some authenticated signatures (I think) of Ringo and I found one that looks like these. What do you think?

Those are actually forgeries as well. Some of these obscure companies that knowingly sell forgeries issue their own worthless COA.

ok thanks. Just so weird that these are on recordsleeves from thee mid 60's and I bought them from the old lady (Bernadette) herself. Well it is what it is I guess :) Good thing I didn't spend more than a euro a piece...

Spending a euro a piece should tell you something.

Bearing in mind a Ringo can go for £300 upwards.

+1 Information is protection and power. Know your target.

I agree but sometimes you do find nice stuff for very cheap because people have no clue or forgot, especially on yardsales, etc... Thanks for your reply.

Yes, that is true, but also the exception. When you have signatures from the same source that match each other but not known exemplars there is a problem. Do these look like 1966 signatures? What should they look like? What should they cost? Knowing your subject - you are trying to authenticate forgeries with forgeries. Were it me I would spend considerable time just looking and learning. The stories, old lady, distances and dates are meaningless. The dates are online, the rest is irrelevant and unprovable. Beatles forgeries are everywhere so where you ultimately found them is not impressive. That they match and were together - that is interesting, but not endearing.

Thank you Eric. I have to say that I'm more into the music than the other memorabilia. With all due respect, this is not my specialisation so hence me asking it here. I do understand your reasoning though and I appreciate your effort. Just on a side note, I didn't know this world of autographs and have now seen a glimps of it so I'll be extra vigillant next time, if there will even be a next time :D

I understand but the expert that cares MORE about your collection than you, TPG's especially, is a relative rarity. Were I to pursue Beatles it would take a very long time to find the right piece after  intense study and collecting of exemplars after deciding what period I wanted. Buying is the last part IMO. Learning about the subject is paramount IMO.

All forgeries...
